I would like you to nominate your favourite scene from a film that is set in outer space. It can be on a ship, on a distant planet, etc the only stipulation has to be that it's in space somewhere and there are stars/ planets/ moons etc present/visible in the scene.
One entry per person.
I will nominate the top three in a few days.
The winner can be lavished by green blobbies from other participants.
I'll give an example:
The trench scene at the end of Star Wars or The end of silent runnings or the start of Predator when the ship heads towards earth and so on.
Add Youtube clips if you have them. And what made you pick the clip..if you want to that is.
Enjoy

Come on, try again
That was on a spaceship, and im quite sure there were stars present in space at the time. Can you give us an example scene just so people know what youre actually talking about? As the OP you'd have thought you'd added one anyway.
I don't know what's funnier, the clip or the fact you think there are stars, moons etc present in the clip. Hint, there is a funny scene from the film that is applicable.
Opening scene of Star Wars: A New Hope, where the Imperial Star Destroyer flies in over the top of the screen and just goes on, and on, and on...
Ripley singing "Lucky Star" whilst climbing into a space suit in Alien (this has nothing to do with her wearing only a skimpy T-shirt and panties, honest )
1st chestbuster scene in the same movie (I avoided spaghetti for a while after watching it)

The Star Wars one is ok. The others do not have stars etc visible in the scene.
Tommy Lee Jones in Space Cowboys, right at the end sitting on the moon.
Without reading as far as your post, I had already mentally chosen the same - weird, as it's not particularly mind-blowing. I think maybe the soundtrack helps (Ol' blue eyes flying to the moon).
But, you beat me to it, so I'll have to think of another (for another time).

I shall enjoy the challenge. I think what got me was the superb view of the earth and the way it was set made you kind of wish you were there too
