For all the reasons you mention apart from the last one.

A dinner invitation from a nice, male friend is also a good reason...

Re: Why you decide to eat out of home?

I've merged the two threads since they are pretty similar.

Why you decide to eat out of home?
Why going back to the same restaurant?

Re: Why going back to the same restaurant?

You sounds like an explorer! Tried every restaurant your way.
Can you explain "your way"???

I've tried just about every restuarant around my way and I would only go back to a couple of them. Good food, value for money and great service.

I like to have lunch from the same restuarant every day. That's only 3 days a week. At least I have started varying the dish I order

Re: Why you decide to eat out of home?

I tend to go out to eat at least twice a week; Why? Simply because I am fed up to cook everyday and it is actually very nice to change "the home decor". And spring/summer seasons are even better for going out and relaxing on a terrace. Not to mention that is also a good way of socializing. Isn't it?

Re: What makes you decide to go out for a meal?

We used to go out to eat at least once a week. We usually chose a restaurant in the area, nothing fancy - in a small town, the local Gasthaus is a good way to meet people, to get to know the community.

Dining out was a chance to relax, to let go of the stresses of the week. A good meal, nice bottle of wine, watching the sun setting over the lake/mountains went a long way towards recharging our batteries.

(This thread has made me realize that it has now been almost 2 years since we've had a chance to go out in the evening. Since my dog-hating neighbor moved in, I've pretty much been under house arrest. I miss going out...)

Oh well - a good meal, nice bottle of wine, watching the sun setting over the lake/mountains can also be had at home.

I constantly and repeatedly visit the same restaurant.
Does this happen to you also?

Do you know why?
yes. there are only 2 restaurants in switzerland, so if you don't fancy italian that day, you have to have thai.

oh. and i eat out because if i'm too lazy to cook, or more likely because the supermarkets are closed and i can't buy anything to cook

Why you decide to eat out of home?
For a change?
Tempted by some delicious dishes that gave you good memories?
A treat?
A romantic evening out with your lovers?
....
a) because I'm away from home

b) because I'm with a customer

c) a + b

Of course, some times I'm away from home specifically because I want "some delicious dishes that gave me good memories", in which case I am usually somewhere in Alsace or at Attinghausen.
