Yammer - the social network for work

My colleagues just kicked it off for our company and we have already almost 200 members.

- Over 80,000 companies worldwide and 1 billion tweets.

Is it the new twitter/facebook for those who don't want to add colleagues as friends? Are you members?

I am, like always, a tad sceptical, but it will be interesting to see how it grows.
I am at Twitter but never really liked it enough to use it (might as well use fb statuses, no?). But this seams to me to be more efficient than twitter, a good combo between fb & twitter.

But with the social events, Org Chart, pools and more, it does seams quite interesting.

Re: Yammer - the social network for work

This exists at my work too, but seems to never have become a success...

Most people I know at work signed up, but after a while got out again (is harder to do than youŽd think) - it never really took off, so nothing interesting happened on Yammer, but weŽd still get bombarded with annoying e-mails in an already way-too-red inbox....

Hopefully it will have more success at your company

Well, being a social person, I've already created a after-work group and two events!

It wouldn't be too good having German speakers in the groups though. They might misunderstand the title.
