sounds like it's blue-screening when loading something.

so boot from the OS installation disk and repair the installation.

You can also do a fixmbr and run sfc /scannow from the repair prompt if you're feeling plucky

If he sees the splash screen, then the MBR is intact and working ?

Oh it's definitely there but for completeness, I'd repair. It will do no harm unless it's a dual-boot system.

Re: I Need PC Help

hm guys can we all synchronise and give him a "Single answer" instead of flooding him with crap( or premature) suggestions?

How come he can boot but can not reach the safe mode? He said it's "pass" the logo screen so there's already something wrong.

I suggest the safe mode first. He should try again "F8" a lot of time or try with another keyboard.

Or best is there anyone close to him that can just go, solve issue?

That user also did not explained how he knows he got another virus, or what "antovirus program he reinstalled". I suspect a bogus crap here. We might have a special workaround on google.

It's fortunate you are not all working in chirurgy because they would be a lot of legs cut for treating a bad flu...

How do we do that ?

There are suggestions, each different, all catering for the most likely causes. OP will probably have to try them all.

As we don't know the root cause yet, there is no single answer.

Well we can simply suggest by posting here and mention "OP: do not try yet, we will compile a troubleshooting method in a single post".

Yes but exactly we need to know the root cause, not to give him 5 different workaround which can do more harm than anything else-

That's why he has to answer a few "background questions" (what's this "antivirus he installed"? "how come he knows he got a virus?").

We also need to know why his F8 seems not working.

If he would listen to you, he would have already dual boot windows/linux, a MasterBootRecord changed (which by the way would screw his Linux if he does the fix for windows after the dual boot), some data saved in an external socket for HDD, etc....)- or he could even crap the MBR, etc....

And maybe he simply has a boot issue fixable by a single "system restore"!!!
