Royal Wedding at the end of April - shopping?

I had a strange question thrown at me by the receptionist of my dentist.

Her daughter booked a long weekend in London at the end of April before William and Kate announced their wedding.

She rang me up yesterday to ask if the shops are going to be open over that weekend.

Can anyone help on this very girly question??!!

Re: Royal Wedding at the end of April

IIRC, the Friday (the wedding day) is classed as a public holiday, rather than a bank holiday, so some will be open, others won't...

The rest of the weekend will be business as usual.

HTH

The Monday May 2nd is a Bank Holiday. Expect a lot of congestion and delays getting about London on the Friday. Areas around the Wedding route will be subject to delays, diversions and increased security.

Unless she is planning to watch the wedding, avoid the whole of Central London around Westminster. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-12819687

I feel a bit sorry for her. She booked this break a year ago!! One thing I did suggest is that she try to sell her 5 star hotel room to the highest bidder!!

That may not work but it may be that the hotel would rearrange at no cost if they have people waiting to book then.
