Happy parents? Plan for 2 daughters

Interesting/funny study which analyzed feedbacks from more than 2000 parents. Researchers came to a conclusion after examining the lives of families with different combinations of children, both male and female.
Here are the winners:

1.Two girls
2.One boy and one girl
3.Two boys
4.Three girls
5.Three boys
6.Four boys
7.Two girls and one boy
8.Two boys and one girl
9.Three boys and one girl
10.Three girls and one boy
11.Two boys and two girls
12.Four girls
BENEFITS OF HAVING TWO GIRLS:
1.Rarely noisy
2.Help around the house
3.Very few fights and arguments
4.Quite easy to reason with
5.Play together nicely
6.Rarely ignore each other
7.They confide in you
8.Very well behaved
9.Rarely try to wind each other up
10.Really like each other

Woot! We win.

But I have to disagree with some of the benefits; namely points 2, 4, 5, 9 and 10.

Re: Happy parents? Plan for 2 daughters

I have number 2. I grew-up in scenario 10, i can tell you it's not easy.

They didn't consider material benefit if you have only daughters or boys: you can reuse all the clothing and toys several times!

My growing-up scenario isn't on the list (4 girls, 2 boys) and I turned out OK, no?

I have number two and was number two, only me being the (much) younger and with my kids my son is the younger one. I thought it was a shame because you can't use many girls clothes for boys, but the other way round works.

well the question is rather if it turned OK for your parents
since they did not find any surviving parents with that configuration in their study it says already a lot!

Well she is always harping on about having "nothing to wear".

Re: Happy parents? Plan for 2 daughters

I can't believe that - did they ask parents of 2 teenage sisters???
Our house was very 'lively' when they were both in their teens - and became a nut house once a month!?!

Re: Happy parents? Plan for 2 daughters

I'd misremembered a study I'd read a few years ago and thought this thread was going to be about that...

Here is something similar to what I'd thought was coming:

Good-looking couples have more daughters, study suggests.

Quote:
For this study, which will be published in an upcoming issue of the journal Reproductive Science, Kanazawa tracked 17,000 British babies from their 1958 births, and at age 7, their teachers were asked to rate the children on their attractiveness (yikes). When interviewed later at age 45, those who were rated most attractive were more likely to have daughters.
Still, I could have sworn that the one I read said (implied?) that people who were more in love / attracted to each other tended to have daughters, rather than it "merely" being a matter of people who are seen to be attractive in general.

My sister and I didn't get that memo. The house was like a battleground for the first 15 years.

Re: Happy parents? Plan for 2 daughters

I have number 12. Help!
I have to agree with most of the negative points on 4 girls
Still, after the bedtime battles are over and they're all sleeping soundly, they turn into angels and I am overwhelmed by my feeling of love for them......until my first wake-up call of the night!

Mothers
Of
Girls

We all hate them as they look at our unrully children/boys. You just know know they just don't understand, as they only ever experience well-behaved girls...

Re: Happy parents? Plan for 2 daughters

Quite distressing and disappointing to see how parents see kids as tools for their own happiness and comfort. I would be more interested and fascinated to see how my kids will grow up irrespective of their sexes and numbers and if they feel happy having us as their parents.

make first love to make first kids and then i can post here, actually.

Treat it like someone giving his opinion on world affairs and cultures and eventualities without ever even coming across or experiencing any of the things they have a firm opinion about.
