Re: general question about life and growing up

My ex-mil had a theory about youth going through their last growing-up phase around 25-27 and it is the most difficult one. Tends to be harder for men than women.
I think she might have a point there, I was pretty numb these years myself and looking back I feel like I have completely wasted few years there for nothing.
And when you think about it, why are there so many fallen stars that died at the age of 27?

Try giving up the EF for a week, get outside, meet some people and just enjoy the fact you are well and mobile. Youre sure to get a few smiles and that always gets the pulse racing.
TV, p0rn, and this website are not real.
They give you slices of life. The people on TV are all more exciting than any real people you are ever going to meet - than your real friends. The p0rn stars are all "better" than any person you might ever end up in that position with - if you believe in it, you're always going to be disappointed.
Remember that they cut an paste a lot on tv.

On this website you only ever "see" people at their best - they are trying to avoid groans and red blobbies. Or trying to earn green ones.

I get my "highs" from running and meeting good friends - real people, with real lives and real conversations afterwards.
(but some of you already know that )

I think i'd tend to agree with her - 'cept for the bit about it being harder for men than women

I have it on good authority that a few tabs of acid, a 4x4 and the desert will blow the cobwebs out of your mind and set free the latent man-boy in you. Just don't expect to enter normal society again...

Re: general question about life and growing up

if bjj doesn't bring a thrill try capoeira or muay thai? these things ebb and flow, maybe just try to pay attention to little things around you and try to see the funny/nice things around and focus on that.

or take a trip to that monkey house in alsace. that seems a sure fire way to have a few smiles...

Nothing really Excites me anymore.... is this a phase of growing up?
Kinda sucks that I seem to get emotions pretty much on cruise control nowadays.
Hm... difficult question, but I wil try

What keeps me excited and curious to life is travelling.
Exploring places and food I haven't smelt and tasted before. This never gets boring for me.

I do a bigger journey 1 -2 a year, so have to look in between for little adventures in my daily life which keep me animated.
Before my upcoming adventure I get really into it and start reading up about the history of the country... and also prepare to learn some bits and pieces of languages.
(Mostly I book some language course and meet there new mind liked people who also have the travel bug and who share with me the planning and experiences of the place I will go to.)

The preparation takes normally some few months and the excitment to look forward to the journey is awesome.

What I also think is important to prevent falling too much into a 5day work, sleeping, waiting for the weekend routine/monotony, and do new stuff during the week after work or start working part-time and take one or two afternoons off to have time for yourself and do some hobbies.

Well, to find some daily excitments or little adventures for you...
are you more the sporty type or do you like creative things... what are things you haven't done before?

This is really the only option for our Ouchboy.... Unless he wants to change careers. I hear arms dealing and espionage are exciting options. Drug dealing is so last decade.

I find having odd bits of randomness keeps me happy, such as running down the escaltor the wrong way or cartwheeling in town, is as much the disapproving looks as the activity that entertain

Searching for adrenalin-sensations can get you high (like sky diving) but that, in my honest opinion, is not what it's about.

I think we're satisfied and our colors are bright when we are capable of enjoying things as they are, and loving people for who they are, without necessarily trying to change everything (and ignore that urge to put everything upside down).

Nonsense.

BUY A MOTORCYCLE!

It's either now, or when you hit your midlife crisis, and you'll be much safer if you get it NOW!

I used to have a colleague who played a game of making sure that every day, she did something new or different, no matter how small a thing it was - even as small as walking on the other side of the street from normal on the way to work. She swore that it kept that bland nothingness equalibrium feeling away.

Are you just feeling neutral about things at the moment, or are you actually feeling depressed?

Re: general question about life and growing up

It is a great feeling that is so true.

Perhaps there is a little secret to learn here, you know, like feel contentment and quiet happiness without much fabulous wild external excitement going on all the time.

Makes me think of those who always need the thrill of a new love interest and when it wears out they go all depressed and whine until they meet someone new and then they're all happy smiley silly.

Thinking of sports, I think a long term commitment can do wonders with some sort of goal or achievement in sight.

And then I wished there were more people around with an extra portion of humour.

So many people seem to be so stuffed stiff with psychology and know how manuals, one would think everybody is screwed up on this planet or everything needs to be under control sort of.

That sure as hell drains every spontaneous childlike fun out of everyone does it not.

...

that actually sounds good (sledging, not you giggling).

Mountain bikes too.

I usually think of something like skydiving, but at the end this sort of things you (or at least me) can only do it so many times until it becomes routine.

I practice BJJ for example, in the beginning it was very exciting, now it's the daily thing. I'll keep on doing it, but it's not the " Waiting for Xmas eve" sort of feeling that I don't longer get about stuff.

Too much depressing mood for sping on my part I guess .
