iPhone 4 Unlock Solutions

Every once and a while I see a post on here asking about unlocking an iPhone or people selling locked iPhones and I thought this might help to show some options to unlock it. At the moment there are three options ranging in price (There are more options but they are all variations of these three).

1. Gevey SIM 60CHF- www.applenberry.com - Hardware Unlock - Requires a new SIM Tray placing a chip underneath the SIM Card. Has proven to work on all new iPhone basebands and Software versions. There is a question of its legality because it requires that you dial 112 to gain access to the network. Also process must be repeated every time you re-start the iPhone. It is possible that apple will fix this loop hole in a coming update and the product will be useless.

2. Rebel SIM 45-60CHF - www.rebelsimcard.com - Hardware Unlock - Same as above but also has a "Lite" version which does not require new SIM Tray (chip is left exposed outside of phone). The main difference is that you do not have to repeat the unlock process every time you re-start the phone. It does it automatically. It is also upgradeable in case apple "fixes the hole".

3. Official Carrier Unlock 150CHF - www.cutyoursim.com - This solution is a permanent solution and the most reliable. Jailbreaking, or unauthorized hacks are NOT required. This unlock will carry on forever, you can update your phone to the newest version without worrying about waiting for an unauthorized unlock to be released. This iPhone unlocking service will work with ANY iPhone, ANY carrier, and ANY software or baseband version.

I myself find that www.cutyoursim.com is the most reliable hence you never have to worry about apple fixing the issue, or hardware or anything else. It is just like you have a factory unlocked iPhone. I have two iPhones which I brought from the States locked to AT&T and just had them unlocked with this service and it works like a charm.

Hope this can be of use to someone.

Thanks for the write up. I think the last option is expensive given that you can buy an Android smartphone for CHF100, unlock it and use that as your secondary phone. This is what I've resorted to doing for whenever I need to use my British T-mobile sim.

Aparently, the cutyoursim.com option is no longer available (it says "paused" on the website).
Any thoughts on that?
Are there any other similar services?
Thanks for the info, I was not aware of this last one.

Re: iPhone 4 Unlock Solutions

Regarding www.cutyoursim.com They received so many orders over the past 72 hours (since they started offering the service) that they had to stop the order process since the queue is so long. They will begin taking orders again once the queue has been brought down to a manageable level. I believe over 3000+ orders have been taken. I was order 1308 and 2342. Here is a quote from their page.

"Due to overwhelming demand, we have stopped taking any new orders for the Remote iPhone unlocking service. We will process the orders that we have taken the past few days, and we will hopefully re-open the sales again for the service when we catch up. Sorry about any inconvenience."

The other sites offering this service as well are:

www.negrielectronics.com - they too have recieved an abundance of orders and have shut down their service as well

http://blog.unlockbase.com/?p=587 - seems to still be running but must e-mail them personally

http://www.gsmphonesource.com/Produc...e=IPHONEUNLOCK - has as well shut down to an abundance of orders

The cutyoursim one certainly is interesting! How did they get access to the Apple databases?

In the end your money may go to waste because Apple could very easily reverse it on their database. Apparently this grey market access to the Apple servers has been around for some time in the UK

If anyone is tempted to buy their Applecare off Ebay, watch out. There are people selling Applecare codes which are emailed to you (after all the Applecare is simply a registration slip in a cardboard box).

These are initially accepted by the Apple registration servers and your warranty is extended. However if you then try and claim a repair, they can ask to see proof of purchase from a registered Apple reseller. By then the Ebay sellers have closed their accounts and are long gone.

Re: iPhone 4 Unlock Solutions

you can do it yourself with greenpoisonrc6 or snowbreeze as long as the iphone 4 or 3gs is not on OS 4.3.1 if you are still using 4.2.1 then there are many unlocks and jailbreaks available , sadley both the phones i have are at OS 4.3.1 and the unlock is still a pain in the bum ....as its tethered ,you require an un-tethered jailbreak then it dont need rebooting if you battery goes flat.

take a look on youtube everything is there

If you are familiar with jailbreaking then there is an app for that. It is called SAM Module and can be found in Cydia. It pretty much backs-up your activation record in an encrypted format to a server. Therefor IF apple ever deems the process illegal (which is doubted that they will) then you can re-activate and unlock the phone again. Considering it has been around for some time in the UK it looks like they (Apple) will take no action upon this.

Depends on the provider if they lock it. I believe Swisscom sells them locked, but Sunrise does not lock them. I have a micro sim cutter that comes with sim adapters that will convert it back to normal size after you cut it. If you need one let me know 10chf

Jailbreaking is no the problem, it is the carrier unlock. The unlock is connected to your baseband, more so than your OS. For example, baseband 2.10.04 was bundled with the OS 4.1 and was sold back in Sep. 2010. It cannot be unlocked, nor can any posterior baseband. I'm just saying that you cannot unlock with snowbreeze or greenpoison an iPhone 4 purchased after september 2010 (unless it had an earlier baseband). These other 3 solutions seem to be "solving" this problem for the mean time.

Hence the extreme demand for the unlocks... lot's of people have been waiting for many, many months

Re: iPhone 4 Unlock Solutions

Hello, my friends!

I have Apple iPhone 4 16 gb locked to orange Switzerland, so I want to unlock it. I have already written letter to Orange support, but they said "You must have receipt of your purchase" (I don't have it). Can you recommend me how to unlock my iPhone ? I tried to find this service, but I didn't find ...

Thank you for your help!

Wow that's pretty inflexible. When I finished my contract with Swisscom, I just asked them to unlock it. They contacted Apple and it was done with iTunes quite easily.
