"Global Entry" program into US

Hello,

Does anyone have any experience with the "Global Entry" program in use in the US? I am interested in participating in it as a means to streamline my entering the US, but I have some concerns with giving the US government my data and increasing my risk to be denied entry. While I have not committed any crimes in the US or CH and I am a taxpayer with my CH address on the return, I have been out of the US for several years and my re-entrance permit has expired last August.

As I have a greencard the US government (FBI and Homeland Security) already have my fingerprints and all of my information, so I am not so concerned about giving them this data, but I am concerned with filling in their gaps in their database, or the selling of the information to a private company….the last thing I need is to enter the US and have the automated machine tell me that I can't enter as I have been out of the US for too long.

Appreciate your feedback.

US Customs & Border Protection (CBP) is sending personnel to Switzerland to interview and enroll US citizens in the "Global Entry" program. CBP agents are scheduled to be in these cities:
March 16-18, 2015 – Geneva
March 19-20, 2015 – Basel
March 23-24, 2015 – Bern
March 25-26, 2015 – Zurich
More details are at the US Embassy Bern website.

So, did they bother to inform the Swiss that US agents will be operating on Swiss soil yet again.

Why would they have to inform local authorities, if they're operating at the embassy?

To the best of my knowledge, Basel doesn't have a US embassy, consulate, mission or agency:

I am an American and have the global entry program. I love it. Customs into the US I dont even have to stop and talk to anyone. The program also puts you in the TSA precheck list which means if you fly within the U.S. you get easier screening (no shoe removal, belts, computer or liquids). I don't know if it is any different for other country citizens.

If you are a frequent international traveler to the US, then Global Entry is well worth the hassle of the one time, in-person interview. A number of airlines also pay the admin fee after you reach a certain status, so take advantage of that if you can. Most annoying thing now is the occasional time I check a bag - I can scream through passport control on super busy days but then have to wait for the bag to show up. (yeah - FWP I know).

And since we had to provide biometric info when registering here, I wonder why CH doesn't have a similar program? Granted, the lines are usually very short at passport control in Zurich, but sometimes, I would love to run up to a kiosk, slap my fingerprints down and move on.
