And of course you think Switzerland is great if you happen to come from St. Helens
That's a bit below the belt. It can't be that bad, every time I go back I hear more and more scouse accents . Just so you know, I have lived elsewhere, it would hardly be fair to compare St Helens to Zurich...Zurich doesn't even have a decent rugby team or a Greggs!

Actually, I'm from Eccleston Park, so I'm kind of torn between the two. In a 99% towards Liverpool 1% towards St.Helens way
Next time you go back will you bring me back 2 sausage rolls from Greggs. Or better still a Pimletts (sp?) pie
Re. France: as well as "cheap booze" and "it's close" you've also got good food, great scenery, cheap housing (compared with the UK), loads of space and skiing (10% of the kids in Chamonix's schools are english & their parents are not "expats", i.e. spoilt silly by their employers). I've often thought that the oft-touted mutual hatred of british & french is overblown. When the two actually live next door to each other, it usually works out pretty well.

I wish UK expats would feck off in Australia to be honest. It was getting to sound like another suburb of Manchester in the northern suburbs of perth. Last time I was back visiting my family it was whinge whinge whinge down at the shops. WHAT MORE DO YOU WANT?? CRAP WEATHER AND FOOD?

Always cracks me up the way Australians spend their entire time whinging about the English 'whinging'. There mustn't be a good word said at all in Oz one can only assume.
You have that one right: the French don't even try.
Seriously: the Brits in France are different from the ones in UK... they left the place, remember? It is a kind of romantic self induced dreem Brits have with France, they don't need the French for it.
