Try to stay on topic. That's tonight. The big game on Friday is Sydney v Carlton.
You're both wrong, it's the CFL opener June 30, BC Lions at the Montreal Alouettes.

Oh man, you went there. You suggested that Canadian football is more important than soccer (I know its football to you guys). You're going down now.

On a related note, the CFL starts very early. I didn't really know that. I should get into it.

As a world citizen, I couldn't care less about football/soccer or any other sport. Can you please explain why you care?

There´s no need to feel any need to defend Blighty. Clearly the best country and people on the planet. My God we civilised most of the rest of the world.
All this talk about taxpayer funding misses the real issue. In fact the royals are net contributors to the exchequer (cant be bothered to find the recent reference.)
If you dont like the wedding then bug*er off you republican peasants.

Note to mods: can´t we keep these oiks and proles off the forum by exiling them to some banana republic island somewhere. I was so mad I hit my butler this morning with a dead pheasant I shot on the estate last night.

It's a man thing.

Some girls pretend. Even then, it's often a fit man thing.

At least we didn't get suckered into thinking it was the real deal which apparently some people across the Atlantic did.

Don't really care, but any excuse for a booze up and a day off.

Is there some way I can convince my Swiss employer it's a statutory holiday, even for brits abroad?

Ahhhhhh.

People I know back in the US think this is wonderful.

Tacky tacky tacky tacky tacky.

(then again, I hated the original dance down the aisle video that inspired this)

Without comparing the merits of soccer, Canadian Football (is there really a team called the Alouettes) and Aussie Rules the advantage of the Sydney Carlton game (Eurosport 2 at 11:30) is that it is on at the same time as the Royal Wedding and is therefore a viable alternative.

Complete With Union Jack Hat and pint in hand?

They don't care much for what I wear in the office, maybe if I just turn up pissed, just seen one of the local expat bars (legends) will open for a 7:30am start.

I personally think its a great thing, especially since people up and down the country are planning street parties and the nation gets a day off...all for a nice, fluffy occasion (as opposed to a national tragedy).

Bought some British bacon and sausages from @Grumpygrapefruit at The British Cheese Centre in Zurich and am all ready for a jumbo delish sarnie or two on Friday. Yum! Can't wait!
