Re: Royal Wedding....Can someone explain why you care?

I'm being shamelessly girly about the whole thing. Beautiful wedding and the dress was, well, WOW!

Great occasion.

hehehe Harper was invited and he declined.
Harper? Care to enlighten?

Having caught some of the ceremony on a live stream, I must say it makes me extremely proud to be British.

Shame she couldn't get her nose fixed in time

Stunning dress! A beautiful bride. Loving the pomp and ceremony that we do so well. Have enjoyed assassinating the guests outfits.

Also having a thought of how proud William's mother would have been.

Re: Royal Wedding....Can someone explain why you care?

I started watching it mostly as a MIL-DIL bonding thing (and the fact she's watching it on the computer means I'm 'on call' anyway for tech support, might as well stay in the room!) but it is quite sweet. Have actually sniffled once or twice - I could care less about royals but guess I'm still at that stage where all other weddings remind me of my own.

What's with the trees growing in church though? Slightly bizarre. I suppose normal-sized flower arrangements would be swallowed up in that church so they have to do something.

And one of the princesses (Beatrice?) looks just like a reindeer in that silly hat.

It was Kate's wish to bring trees into the abbey. Something about her love of nature.

Reindeer hat - couldn't put my finger on it but, yes - that's it!

Prime Minister--essentially the head of state of Canada (since the Monarchy really doesn't do anything, but enjoy a free ride )

Re: Royal Wedding....Can someone explain why you care?

Damn it, I was hoping someone would jump out of the crowd and do something daft so we could watch the Household cavalry charge him down because if you can't sabre a man to death on live TV today you never can.

Also from the Guardian, posted when the fanfares were being played in Westminster Abbey.

This needs the theme from the bit in Star Wars where they get the medals. Then Harry does a wookie roar and we cut to credits.

Edit: Why has Beatrice got a television antennae on her head?

Why I am watching the Royal Wedding? Same reason I watched Obama's Inauguration and the Olympic Ceremonies:

Re: Royal Wedding....Can someone explain why you care?

Is it finally over now? I'm so excited. Was it everything you all hoped it would be? I'm so ready to get back to my news dedicated to violence in the Middle East and economic troubles back home (wherever your home is). The "news" has been abysmally boring and unwatchable/readable lately.
