Hi everyone
I decided to take the CAE in November. I going to take a course but it is only once a week, it would help me to improve my grammar but I still need help with my pronuntiation.
My mother language is Spanish and I speak German too but unfortunately I don't the opportunity to practise my English.

Do you have any idea? maybe some extra lessons?

The Spanish accent is awesome....... don't rush to fix that. We all know what you mean.

Work on the grammar though, the more fluent you get with conversation, the better your pronunciation will get.

I have a lot of Spanish and Sth American friends in Sydney, and it was amazing to hear how much better they got within the year.


Invite yourself along to a few EF events and get the exposure you are looking for. This would be my suggestion.

Watch UK TV- but if you can GO to England for a few weeks before the exams, and avoid all non-Brits whilst you are there. Failing that, try to team up with some of the ex-pats in your area on a regular basis.

My english is good, A2 level in german. Im interested in spanish. Maybe we can meet up sometimes? i also live a few minutes away from Baden. And im a mum too.

However my english is more american.

I was about to suggest find an English bird at the local Irish/British pub, but I see you're married with 2 kids so best not really. I personally am a believer of [when speaking a foreign language] doing it in your own accent (just as long as it's understandable). I think it's a thing of the past trying to imitate British, American or otherwise native accents.

I agree that its not important that you imitate american or british accent. I used to have a funny accent and mostly its an obstacle when speaking to native english speakers so its good to atleast try to lose that.

As a native French speaker, I can say I am totally fluent in English after nearly 40 years living and working in UK - but I still have the weirdest accent. No, not French - I've been 'accused' of being Welsh and/or South African. Who cares?

As a native speaker, I would find it annoying if someone over did it (put too much effort into it) when trying to do a British or even American accent. So yeah. I agree.
