Stag and Hens party - what did you do?

Ok we were talking yesterday with some friends about hens and stag parties and to be honest i didnt like what i heard at all!

I know people in stag parties go crazy but some of the things i found out yesterday....

Anyway here it goes. Note that all actually did happen

Stag parties:

1. The guys got the groom really drunk (duh...) and he woke up in Edinburgh train station at 10am with no money, no tickets and no clothes. The wedding was planned in London at 12. Obviously it had to be posponed.

2. The guys put the groom in a full body cast and left him believing he broke arms and legs for a whole week!

3. The guys made the groom go to the beach in a mankini

What worries me is that the fiance found the 2 first hilarious. I find them extremely stupid

Hens party:

1. Dinner/drinks/clubbing

2. Weekend away with (extremely mild) dares

For my hens party i decided that me and my paintball team back home (all guys) are going swimsuit paintballing. Swimsuit on top of uniform obviously, im not crazy. That and the traditional easy hens party my maid of honor is organising which will be like something she had (dinner/drinks/clubbing)

To be honest I wouldn't worry, gata. Your fiancé probably thinks people fooling around with lit firecrackers and singeing their eyebrows off is hilarious too, but that doesn't mean he wants it to happen to him.

Just plan your hen night to suit yourself and let him do the same. If he has any sense (and I bet he does, otherwise you wouldn't be marrying him ) then he will take whatever steps he needs to. Maybe he'll put a fun-loving but ultimately reliable friend in charge of the festivities - or if that's not possible he might ask one of the more reliable guys to watch his back and call a halt if anything looks like going seriously wrong (i.e. lasting harm or endangering his ability to get to church on time.)

You could also encourage him to plan something a week or two in advance rather than the night before... that way if anything does go wrong he's got time to recover. But to be honest I wouldn't worry.

#2 or 3 could be funny, though for a few hours, not a whole damn week. #1 is just mean.

My idea of a stag party would be an outdoor day of quad bikes, paintball, and feasting on a full cooked pig (or other animal) on a fire at the end of the day.

I know the guys that will be the stag party and my fears are well justified! Im just hoping you are right and he has some sense.

So far i demanded the party to happen in July (wedding is in September) so it will be some time apart

How was your party? If you want to share details of course

Re: Stag and Hens party - what did you do?

we had a combined party, the two of us, all of our friends and a night of dinner, going dancing, partying, etc. it was great- the next day we all went to the beach and had a relaxing day before the wedding. honestly it worked for us, we weren't really interested in going out and partying without the other and we have a big group of mutual friends so it just made sense.

but don't worry about those kind of horror stories you hear. this is only the beginning of that kind of stuff. first bachelor party horrors, then wedding day horrors. then pregnancy and labor horror stories, honestly, best for you take them all with a grain of salt

Too much salt is bad for you. I've read horror stories!

I was about to say - if you are planning on paintballing (and in swimsuits), make sure that you leave enough time between the hen and wedding for the bruises to fade! heehee

I didnt have a hen night because we were living abroad at that time, and the stress of planning a remote wedding as well as a move was enough without having a hen night, though I've had been to some very different, memorable and interesting hen nights. One of them was going around in a hired limo for the night around London, and the bars were based on the monopoly board. Me and the maid of honour had different tasks for the hen to do and I think she was snoring in the limo before we even hit Mayfair.

The other one was really sedated but still great, we girls rented a cottage for the weekend in the Cotswolds and had a lovely weekend pampering ourselves with a hired manicurist and chef.

A hen night depends on the bride and her style. Find one which suits you best - there are only horror stories if you let it get out of control as sensible (albeit tipsy) adults. Remember to hide the pictures from the Mr, till after the wedding at least
