Generally speaking trolls are fairly obvious, as you are. Hidden behind that thin veneer of communityism that you appear to hold as you are part of a forum , lies a person with the most pa thetic needs to provoke some kind of a reaction to a statement that competes with used toilet paper in lifes rubbish bin. So well done and i look forward to your next contribution like my nnext colonoscopy.
Oh dear, first time I've been called a troll on this or any other forum, well had I been trolling I imagine I'd have been well pleased with your reaction. And I'm pathetic too? crivens I never knew, good thing you're here to keep me right. Consider if you will who is hiding when I use my name and you do not.

All the best.
Well lets examine the facts shall we Mr Troll
1 who know s what your real name is?
2 the national anthem representing some 60 million people is actually "God Save our gracious Queen"
3 it wasn't written by our queen but chosen by her servants to be sung in her honour
Therefore i not only stand by what i wrote but insist that your subsequent sanctimonious BS only goes to prove the point.

It's an easy enough misunderstanding. You see, the monarch and the country are one. Essentially, the Queen is the personification of England (Scotland, Wales...). So, to sing a song in praise of, or offering fidelity to, the country, is the same as singing such a song to the Monarch.

My name is Reid, I'm not hiding behind some handle launching disparaging remarks at strangers, 'pathetic', 'Mr Troll' now 'BS' I'm keen to see your next effort. Forgive me for not joining in the name calling; as a way of making your point it makes me cringe a bit.
If your argument is reduced to nit picking that I used the wrong title then it's not really much of an argument is it? however for the record you are wrong about the title so I'm now wondering if you are trolling.
I have no idea why you are going on about it not being written by the queen, hmmm it's looking more like trolling now.
Nitpicking aside, my point (which you disagreed with, so hence I am clearly trolling) is that the queen does not sing beause the anthem is about her which in my opinion is just a big suck up.
Btw, "God Save The Queen" to give it it's correct title, is not even the official anthem, "Jerusalem" has been suggested as an official one and a much better choice imho.
Anyway, cheer up mate, I wasn't actually trolling, which as I understand it is posting a position you don't believe in just to get a reaction, but you seem pretty convinced by your own infallibility so I doubt you'll believe that, it's a beautiful day, get outside, enjoy the sun, thats what I'm going to do.
P:S: @NotAllThere, interesting point, a far more relevant response.
Just to clarify, for anyone who may have some confusion, the official national anthem of Great Britain is "God Save the Queen". Can also be known as "God Save the King", when applicable, with she/her being interchangeable with he/his.
It has been in existence since the time of George II and dates back to 1745.
There are currently 5 different verses although some are only relevant/sung during times of war and strife. Normally only two are used, but this is often reduced to one - with which most people are familiar.
As a southerner, I would agree that I couldn't be singing anything mentioning "the north". It's far to grim up there, AND I am rubbish at northern accents.... too much training in the queens english in the home counties "don't you know".
PS, anyway we are all very patriotic brits aren't we? - we don't even live there, although some of you will at least move back someday ....If I can possibly stay on the mainland I am here for good
No she doesn't sing because the song is all about me me me, some countries have wonderful national anthems about how wonderful their countries are and the people in them but 'god save the queen' is just a ass-kissing.
I'm with you.
Royalist are unfortunately almost incapable of accepting that some of us may disagree with them.
