Travelling to Baltic Sea in July

Hi,

We would like to visit the Baltic Sea in July for a beach holiday. I would like to stay somewhere along the coast in Germany but also be able to visit Poland. I looked up on the forum and looks like Gdansk is a good Polish place for a beach holiday but seems far from the German coastline.
Could anyone recommend a good place for families along the German coastline? Also, I don't drive so I would use public transport if I go over to Poland.

Thanks!

Re: Travelling to Baltic Sea in July

Never been to Gdansk but many times to Poland. Every time I would use the train I was told not to fell asleep inside and always stay in a compartment where people are present, never to be alone.

I think it's not the wisest idea to travel by train in Poland with children.

There are a lot of Ryan air and other low cost carriers flights to Gdansk. Been told it's a wonderful place.

Try Rügen

Germany's biggest island reachable by rail.

Re: Travelling to Baltic Sea in July

Thanks for the replies.

My plan is to travel by train to Germany and stay along the coast. I would use public transport only to visit the towns along the Baltic sea in Poland.

Rügen looks good. How far is it from Berlin? Which other places in Poland are worth a visit while there?

Thanks again.

Re: Travelling to Baltic Sea in July

Hi,

Rugen looks a big island. Any good places/resorts that you could recommend? I also got some other recommendations about Usedom. Which one is better suited for family/with kids?

Thanks.
