Uk Passport for Child

I want to get my Australian children a British passport, as I was born in England and have both passports.
My daughter is 16 in September. I have been told it is better to get one before she is 16. Why is this so?

Thanks for any info
Debbie

Although it sometimes touches on how to renew foreign passports this forum is actually for permits/visas/government issues related to Switzerland. Why don't you try a UK based forum?

Re: Uk Passport for Child

It's easier to apply for a childs passport as the parent than it is for the young adult to apply for their own adult passport. Entitlement is easier to prove etc.

Re: Uk Passport for Child

i believe that all people age 16 and over have to have an interview now before a first passport will be considered.but if they have a childs one when it comes to renewal in 5 years time, it is quite straight forward. try www.hmrc.gov.uk . this should give you alll the info you need
