I'm thinking of buying a 1997 Audi A4 1.8 with 160k kms on it.
I will travel 60 kms a day and will do around 18k kms per year, want to use the car for atleast 2 yrs. Will this car last for 2 yrs without needing major spend on maintainance?

You'd be best getting a mechanic to look at it. Given that you have only given the current mileage of the vehicle, how are we supposed to deduce the condition of the engine?

Does it have a full service history? Ever been involved in an accident? Has it been driven by an old lady and garaged or screwed into the ground by an over enthusiastic 20 year old and parked out on the street?

Given the age and mileage of the car, you need to have the car thoroughly inspected by a knowledgeable person who is very familiar with the model.

No service records available, expertise was done in Jan 2011 after some repairs, details of repair not available, sorry not making it easy to judge i guess.
It is a petrol version, has few dents/scratches on it.
