Yep I am drunk and mad!

Got few glass of wine to swallow that bad news.

Some will say it is not a big deal, true.

No one is dying or sick, we just lost our super apartment we found 2 weeks ago. Super location, super everything and in our budget. It was absolutely perfect. I was counting days before to move in. I already pictured how would decorate it, etc...

We receive the contract and we signed it! But today, the owner decided he wants to sell it. And for whatever kind of reason or bad financial advise he got, he thinks it is better to keep it empty until he can sell it. (he tried few times before without success and apparently, it still didn't ring a bell... )

Yep, dear friends,

This ain't Switzerland no more!

Cheers!

Re: Yep I am drunk and mad!

Sorry to hear that Nil and, if you can, try not to drink any more wine as that's not the solution tempting as it may seem right now...

Must be really upsetting and frustrating for you at the moment. However, if you can, try and look on it positively as happening for a reason and that it simply was not meant to be...

Something else far better awaits you and when in future you look back from that, somehow it will all become clear on why what's occurring now, utterly maddening and frustrating as it seems, was for the best...

Take care.

Welcome to Spain Nil. Just relax and accept and in future try not to plan. Spain isn't a country for planning, just try and live in the moment and you won't be disappointed.

I am sure the reason you lost the apartment is because there is a much better one waiting for you to find it!

Cheer up! Everything will turn out fine If you are on the west side, go visit Portugal for some gorgeous food and free hugs!

Go round in a year's time, when it's still unsold. Express an interest, and then pull out at the very last minute...

change your mind and go for a visit of another spanish area. It's beautiful between Valencia and Alicante. I always go in Javea for my holiday.

Re: Yep I am drunk and mad!

At least the majority of the wine is good and cheap.

It's just an apartment. It could have happened here, albeit at a different stage of the process. You could see a place, tell the current tenants that you love it, go to the agency saying you want it, who stall you and stall you and then ... it's gone to someone else.

Works in your favour, too. You won't be posting to some local forum saying you verbally agreed to something and are now having to pay a cancellation fee. In Spain, stuff happens when it happens, regardless (in the main) of what was agreed either verbally or contractually.

Just got back from there. Lovely part of the coast; with tasty and cheap food.

Re: Yep I am drunk and mad!

Well, that sounds still better than here....
Here they cancel every agreement whenever someone shows up and offers 500 SFr. more PER YEAR .. (No, don't even break it down in monthly installments, as it is absolutely ridiculous ...and rents are paid upfront for the whole year anyways.)

But if it is THE flat, you are maybe supposed to buy it with whatever "Saeule" you got in Switzerland, as a down payment?
Obviously your offer should be a lot lower than what he's looking for.

Re: Yep I am drunk and mad!

Oh Nil, how bloody inconvenient of you!! Are you telling me I have nowhere to stay now??

I'm sure something will crop up mate and it will be better than this one was. I know how annoying it is to have something swiped from under your feet, especially when all you want to do is get the little ones settled. chin up and keep looking.

*off to scour internet on your behalf....yes I am THAT bored*

Re: Yep I am drunk and mad!

well, not likely, but isn't it possible that the new owner is also willing to rent and you might get a quick deal now that you are already an approved tenant?
