As pointed out most of you/us ignore introductions anyway. To continue the analogy, isn't that the same as someone walking into a room and introducing themselves and being met by silence? Or only one or two people from a large group saying hi?
Anyway, to keep it on topic the pop the OP heard is most likely the power supply. Very simple to replace himself, and depending on wattage, not very expensive. I'd try replacing it myself first. Here's the p**p. I just arrived here from Chicago with my wife, Nancy. We are on a 3 year stint. I own a business in Glenview, a suburb to the north of Chicago. I am in the automotive business back home. Been in it for almost 38 years, 22 of which I owned my own shop. We have 4 kids all over 21 and I have a grandson. In our free time we like to travel. I'm glad I went looking for more of your posts after "noticing" you on another thread today.
Glenview! My father used to be stationed there (and we were forced to live at Great Lakes), back in the day. I wonder if one or more of your kids may have gone to school (would have been only a semester I believe) with one or more of my younger siblings... would have been in '88 though.
(This is as far as I've gotten in the thread so far though, hopefully you got your computer issues sorted)

Good luck that the power surge you had stopped at the PSU. Otherwise good luck getting your data off the disk and if you missed out on the 399 Samsung, do keep your eyes peeled  | |
