Google+ (Google's Facebook competitor)

Today Google has launched the private beta of their social product.

URL:
https://plus.google.com

Features:
  • Circles – The easiest way to share some things with college buddies, others with your parents and almost nothing with your boss
  • Sparks – A feed of only the things that you're really into, so when you're free, there's always something waiting to be watched, read or shared
  • Hangouts – Let friends know that you're free for a video hangout, any time, anywhere. Then catch up, watch YouTube or... just hangout
  • Instant Upload – Taking photos is fun. Sharing photos is fun. Getting photos off your phone is pretty much the opposite of fun. With Instant Upload, your photos and videos upload themselves automatically, to a private album on Google+. All you have to do is decide who to share them with.
  • Huddle – Texting is great, but not when you’re trying to get six different people to decide on a movie. Huddle turns all those different conversations into one simple group chat, so everyone gets on the same page all at once. Your thumbs will thank you
This is going to be interesting... not only just because I love to see some competition, but with Facebook intending to float in the future, I wonder if this will provide some jitters for investors, or is this a case of Google missing the boat ?

Re: Google+ (Google's Facebook competitor)

You might be keen on this too from them:

A month back they had Google Music, possibly a competitor to iTunes.

Google Music isn't a App/Music/Video store. It's mainly a cloud based music storage system at this point in time. Similar to the Amazon cloud based music app. They announced that it would be free for the first year for 20,000 songs.

Re: Google+ (Google's Facebook competitor)

I can only hope that Google+ does at least as well as GMail Motion, the brilliant new enhancement to GMail. GMail Motion is still in beta, so there may be a couple of flaws, but it's looking good.

Fantastic company -- so innovative, and in such life-changing areas!

Re: Google+ (Google's Facebook competitor)

I really like how neat the entire interface is. No messy lists and security settings... just add people to a circle and share stuff with THEM ONLY! Sounds really cool....Let's see how it goes.
