Don't know when that was. Grand Central Station is quite beautiful inside.

Re: Things to do in New York City

I think I read all the posts and did not see anybody mention The Metropolitan Museum of Art. If you you see only one museum in NYC it would have to be this!
do NOT pay the suggested entrance price of $12 or whatever. You can actually pay whatever you want. (it's in the small print). The MET is topped only by the Grand Old World Museums of the Louvre, Prado and the Hermitage, and it surpasses them in specific categories/ themes.
For a multicultural experience, get out of Manhattan immediately , taking the N or R trains and head for Queens. At the end of the R line ...Astoria, the little Greece of NY but foe a while now, much more than that with many more ethnicities with their restaurants and cafes. Taking the 7 lline ( double check on that) one reaches Roosevelt Ave. Walking along this street you will cross paths with at least 20 ethnicities , taking up from one block each to whole neighborhoods, ( a little India fo example). For me ...this is NYC. Queens, where 138 languages are spoken. The real melting pot or Mosaik or whatever you want to call it!
