| | Why I feel old today
I was on the phone with Florida Public Records trying to get a letter of how long I've been licensed to drive. My first Florida license was in 1993. The records searcher had to go into the microfiche, which she made sound like was a HUGE ordeal.
She did get back to me that the search was successful, and that the copy made from the microfiche won't be "as good" as something newer because they had to use TYPEWRITERS "back then" and the technology wasn't "as good" as it is today.
...and the whole time I'm thinking, "but 1993 was just yesterday"...
Then I realized 1993 was 18.5 years ago.

Good grief, it does feel like yesterday. Kind of puts things in perspective, doesn't it? |

They had typewriters?
My first license was hand written (and no photo)!
When I turned 18 (legal age back in the late '70s in CT), I proudly showed my passport, complete with photo. They said "umm, don't you have a driving license"? So, I gave them my hand-written license with no picture, and I got my beer!

Ack. Thanks. You got me calculating in my head and I realized I received my first drivers license in 1981. Thirty years. |

do they have your photo of 18.5 years ago on the driving license?
Always nice game with guests and friends: show your ID or driving license photos.

Until very recently my (German) husband still had his first ever license - a crinkly floppy fabricy type thing with a gorgeous pic of him as a very young man (I felt cheated!!) |

All of that is still young.
I recently found an article about myself in the Nostalgia section of a local paper. It was a reprint of an article from 1975
p.s. I got my driving licence in 1971

That's class!
Love it when one of the children starts rapping on the turntable and the guy intervenes in a stern "OK let's move along" way...
Although the 8-track would have got me.
