Canada..Colony of Britain?

I always thought Canadians were Americans that said Eh after everything. And never understood their political system, living less then 30 minutes from them. But I just watched a Prince William visit there, to find that they said that he would soon rule Inuit tribes in the NW....Hugh? Really?

Re: Canada..Colony of Britain?

Canada, as a former part of the British Empire (actually a colony of nothing at all) is a Commonwealth Realm. Their Royal Family is the same Royal Family as the UK, Guernsey, Jamaica, New Zealand and a number of other countries. Don't you read the news?

The most important of course is Tuvalu. As a proud citizen of the Commonwealth I always keep up to date with Tuvaluvian politics.

Canada is America's backpack. Adorable and along for the ride. That's all you need to know.

Hugh isn't a person, it's an expression for when something isn't understood.

America is Canada's violent, alcoholic stepchild. The one that moved to the city, made a lot of money but spent it all on cocaine and prostitutes.

Re: Canada..Colony of Britain?

Canada is what remains of the spineless naysayers who refused to participate in the most exciting political project of the Anglo-Saxon enlightenment, topped up with the miffed evictees of the Highland Clearances and quite a lot of hardworking eastern Asiatic types.

Add the disgruntled Arcadians, the inhabitants of the nation-within-a-nation that is Quebec, and a few thousand citizens of the 'First Nations' who weren't wiped out by cholera and syphilis, and you get Canada: a miracle of a nation that everyone else thinks is just America's hat.

They eat moose, though. You have to give them credit for that.

Moose is so tasty. Other tasty things include lots of guns but no shootings, lots of pharmaceuticals but tiny bills, low crime, good education, clean air and water and Montreal - a city of Jazz bars. And talk about a Frenchy nation within a nation: it's Louisiana, a state that still bears fealty to the Napoleonic Code of France... Whatever that is.

Moose filet is better. But, so, Cannuckdom is still part of the United Kingdom, like Belfast?

No, it isn't - and never was - part of the United Kingdom.

Nah, it was part of the British Empire like France or the USA.
