Just found my first grey hair

Just found my first grey hair. Natural hair colour for me ends at 31.

Sad thing is I knew it was coming. Mum found her first grey at 30 and now I'm 31 it was only a matter of time before I found one. Finally found the little bugger this morning...

Strange thing is I'm not sure whether to be depressed or relieved!

Re: Just found my first grey hair

It's not so bad, I found mine at 21 and never bothered dying it. You can imagine what it looks like 20 years later .

Embrace it, I say

See it on the positive side! No longer having to go through painful procedures to get highlights! You now have natural highlights

What the bloomin' heck is painful about getting highlights? If it's painful it ain't right.

Started dying/bleaching my hair at 15. Hair started falling out at 18. First grey hair at 21. No longer fitting into military uniform at age 29.

I thought life gave enough time to find a hot spouse before you lost your looks.

I always thought it was unfair that a lot of men look good with their gray hair, but women rarely do.

Aye, right with the 'old' bit there. My first non-head grey hair was smack in the middle of my chest nest...It's a wake up call.

Oh dear. Don't even want to think about that one!

I know it does kind of seem silly but still - turning 30 last year, first grey hair now, first signs of crow's feet... all point to I'm not as young as I used to be. And it's kind of a shock.

Having said that, I've never been a high-maintenance woman; if I had the skin for it, I wouldn't wear makeup if I could get away with it. And I have pretty good natural hair colour (I'm dark with naturally sun-lightened highlights) so I haven't dyed my hair since I was 16....

I don't know what you use, but when I make highlights, all hairdressers used the ruber head thingy, pulling the hair with a crochet needle:

It is extremely painful to me, no matter how delicate the hairdresser is. The only time it wasn't painful was when I did highlights on a 1 meter long hair, and they used a tin folie system from WELLA, but it doesn't get the light colour that close to the root, demanding a retouch much sooner.

I pulled a good dozen grey hairs out of my chest the other day. Still a few left, but it was getting kinda painful.

Ya ok I concede. That would be painful. I never had any hair coloring done that way. It was always with foil.

Sucks, don't it? In about another 7-9 years, mid-life crisis will really start to make sense.
