Re: Is this HOT or: real women have curves

Can somebody answer me this question?

Models -
If their primary purpose is to show off clothes predominantly designed by angy women and Gay men

....... How do they get to dictate to us what is beautiful? and why does a straight man accept this?

(I like a proper woman...... I don't want to feel like I'm walking a child to school - bring on the bumpy bits !!!)

I think it really speaks to the shallowness of the average women. These are magazines produced, developed, marketed for and bought by many who complain about the content.

 Who said anything about "men accepting this"? It is generally the women who feel the need to diet to find a mate.

A little harsh. Maybe it speaks to the/a need for acceptance, which most people have in one form or another at some kind of level.

Sad but true. Funny things is I'm sure the average man would much rather prefer one with 15kg too many than the girl 15kg too few. Who in his right mind wouldn't ?

I didn't dare to say this, but very true.

I've been always wondering why women are annoied about sizes/looks of fashion models in magazines or people in ads.

I can't really see how this would affect any woman's life, or why it should bother anyone.

Unless you have plans to work in this industry, then nothing to worry, no?

I'll take both. :D

That's why I like British Glamour - the regularly feature women of different sizes and if they do have diet stuff, the focus is mainly on being healthy and fit rather than thin.

Haha, true, because I'm pretty much exactly like the woman on the right shape wise and trust me, the outlines are NOT that smooth when you have thunderthighs like that. Not even with lots of exercise... The face kind of freaks me out though, too doll-like.

This is more like it:

Re: Is this HOT or: real women have curves

You know what they say:

"A fat bird is a bit like a moped - good for a ride until your mates find out"

Or

"I never hear a bloke down the pub, holding court, talking about how thin the woman was. 'I pulled this bird last night - and she was sooooo thin, I almost got a paper cut. I stripped her off and laid her down and had all her ribs laying out in front of me - I was so turned on - I almost got the BBQ sauce. So we're going at it and her elbows are digging into my sides like chisels - I've never been so turned on. So I flip her over and take her from behind. I've got her shoulder blades coming at me like razors. It was like having sex with a toolbox - I've never been so turned on."

"Blokes like a woman with a bit of fat on her - primarily because, as you can tell, men carry a bit of fat too. I'm hardly what you would call rotund - but I keep a good inch on my sides - just in case I have to reach up for something - I don't want rip open down one side!"

The last 2 are badly remembered Alan Davies Urban Trauma sketches :o

No, absolutely not.
Confidence is vital. I'm curvy. I have the classic hourglass figure - see how I spin that? No apologies for being top-heavy, or for having egg-timer hips. I am not Kate Moss - TFFT -and I enjoy filling a dress. Confidence is NOT arrogance. Confidence is being happy with who you are, accepting of your shape, refusing to conform to magazine-dictated images of what looks great.
Confidence is to be encouraged - be brave, be bright, be intelligent, be healthy, be big, be brazen, grab great lusty handfuls of life, be skinny, be wise, be serious, be fit - but please don't be bullied.
Be confident in whoever you are and don't apologise for the size of your arse, or your brain.
Confidence is loving yourself for what you are.
Arrogance is thinking everyone else should love you.
There is a difference.

That is, by the way, one the most sought-after features when a guy looks at a woman...the hourglass shape. Take my word for it...or this research.

Ok, I've been going through the Off Topics attic this evening, remembering a few smiles I've had and shared in different threads.

Please enlighten me axewoman, what on earth are egg-timer hips ? :)

Personally, from my experiences I will disagree with most of this.
All the 'confident' people I deal with (and there are A LOT) reek of self-delusion, to such a point they don't even realize it. For me, true beauty lies with humbleness, acceptance of others and especially the realization that one is just a minute number in world of billions. Sure you must accept yourself as being top-heavy, skinny, dumb, shy or whatever, is extremely important. I just find that the truly beautiful people will always take a passive step backwards when encountering a different opinion/point of view and try their best to accept it (especially when it is in contrast to their own) or see how that other point of view might have merits.
Knowing your strengths might be good for some, but I have much more respect and am admiration by those who embrace their short comings and continuously try to change improve and grow.

Entitled to nothing, as all can only be found in the other's appreciation ?

Nelly_Da_Hefferlump 19.12.2011 13:33

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Just as manners maketh a man, curves maketh a woman.

If you want a woman with the body of a 10 year old boy why not date a 10 year old boy? Sick to think of it like that right?
