Marketing that makes you think.....WTF?

Inspired by a recent Aeroflot flight where they serve....

"Chicken breast accompanied by a vegetarian tomato sauce"

Or my brand of deodorant which is currently advertising itself as

"48 hour fresh"

What % of the market who use deodorant at all would think "Yipee - i'll only squirt one day in two"?

Any gems of marketing which are not just blah blah blah but are genuine nonsense?

The bar of chocolate I recently bought in London called 'Fruit and Nut', showing a picture of a bar of chocolate with raisins and nuts sticking out of it on the wrapper, and stating on the back 'this product may contain nuts'.

I've come to understand that marketing is the science of deviating people off proper understanding of how things work through the creation of artificial values such as lifestyle or fashion and the deliberte promotion of scarcity of knowledge, be it technical, social or moral. If the people were really educated as to what they really need, industry wouldn't sell, simply put.

I've never heard of Pringles Select. I thought regular Pringles were pretty posh as they were.

Yeah but if you say: this new ice cream tastes better than before, more like fresh strawberries and cream but cold and smooth...

That's advertising.

McBlizzard: It's colder in Celsius

Is just WTF.

sorry I am not exposed to advertisement campains as I do not own a tv nor pay any attention to them elsewhere. Most importantly, I don't consume brand names.

Any stain removal product that supposedly removes stubborn stains from clothing.

Mouthwashes and chewing gums that supposedly work as well as brushing.

ANTI WRINKLE, ANTI AGEING AND ANTI CELLULITE CREAMS!

Yes! Especially anti ageing. Some sort of Tachyon-infused face cream.... Impressive.

And Lynx/Axe. Makes you more attractive to girls, except that it's the cheapest and strongest smelling stuff on the market that has the very opposite effect.

Amen to that. My flatmate was totally surprised when I informed him that he smelled like a teenage boy rather than the hunk of studliness he was aiming for. The marketing has brainwashed the boys...

I wonder when someone at Coke central is going to hit the nostalgia button and round of this group of people and re-shoot the commercial. Or is it already too late?

No specific examples, but we normally watch BBC so we don't see many commercials. We happened to watch something on ITV and found most of the commercials to be a bit odd.
