(Actually, I think that "internets" developed in different times and places, but the one that eventually became the internet as we know it was made by American academics, the NSF etc. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_the_Internet)
Apparently, history is written by the conquerors (of the internet)...

| | Re: What's "Right" About America? | Quote: | | | | | Now this might spark a debate, but I think one of the greatest things about the US is the media (movies, TV and music etc).
Sure there's a lot of crap in there, but there's also a lot of good stuff too, and a good majority of the rest of the world consumes it without regret.
You put your idea into the mass media, and regardless of how dumb or ridiculously biased they are, as long as has good production value and marketing (and the Americans are pros at this at a surprisingly deep psychological level) it will be consumed by the masses and worshiped as the truth. | | | | | True Blood, Dexter, Game of Thrones are all amazing US television shows.

Bad times for America, atm...But fighting spirit is a right?...I'd say that's more a problem than a positive
Choice, I think that's the biggest 'right' or positive...The diversity of choices for a range of things typically has the US stand out in comparison to most countries, IMO...Of course, that says nothing of the quality of choices
For example, you can find an excellent curry or Thai cuisine for around $6 USD, per person...That's a tough find in Suisse or the UK

That's why I asked the question.
