Atheist/Humanist/Mainstream Protestant Church. I love the Dutch!

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-14417362

How cool is this. Whether you believe in God or the afterlife or not, one has to respect his honesty, spirit, and courage at shrugging off dogma. And of course the larger question - if he can still make Christianity relevant without the supernatural elements, is this global Protestantism's next evolution?

without the supernatural elements, most of the teachings would seem highly immoral to me for a decent human being to have said.

There is a growing belief that the Bible tells metaphorical stories, and should be wholly re-interpreted as such. Jesus may never have existed, God is a state of mind and prophets are merely enlightened everyday people that dumbed down their revelations into simple stories for simple folk. Christianity needs to be revised from Damnation and Salvation into a practical guide for this life/existence. Dump the worship, up the respect to all and live a life without creating victims of your actions.

Re: Atheist/Humanist/Mainstream Protestant Church. I love the Dutch!

First thing that popped to mind was Flannery O'Connor's Wise Blood. The protagonist starts a Church of Truth Without Christ (the concept gets picked up by another sham preacher who renames it Church of Christ Without Christ ), lots of Southern Gothic gore and drama ensue as one would expect from Ms. O'Connor, but I always liked the idea of a Hazel Motes wandering around converting believers and nonbelievers to his church of Truth, based on the idea that the only way to avoid sin is to have no soul.

How TF I remember all that but still leave my work keys at home is beyond me .

Isn't this just Unitarianism under a different flag?

Erm. I dunno. Isn't that where they don't believe in the trinity?

Well, I hate that word but fusion is very popular, and not only in the context of spirituality.

After what happened in Fukushima, it's not as popular as it once was.

I just saw a documentary back home about those who died already because they were cleaning up the aftermath, horrific.

World is becoming more sceptical, I think it is necessary in some ways.
