And you tell me a harem would be too much trouble? |

I absolutely adore being married (10 years this year) and I don't miss anything whatsoever about being single.
I was never really happy as a single person - alone I felt quite awkward, insecure, and, well, lonely and useless really. I'm quite envious of people who are happily single as it's something I never mastered. I like being alone - as in sitting in my lounge reading a book for a while, but I prefer being with others most of the time. And I don't like the idea that nobody is really caring all that much about me it's that Bridget Jones "died alone and eaten by wild dogs" feeling.
I can't speak well about living with someone either though. But that's probably since I was badly hurt in a living together situation - I was very happy and settled, but he apparently wasn't (unbeknown to me) and he decided to end it overnight and then I had nowhere to live - having been here for not very long at the time (and being a lot younger). Was one of the worst experiences of my life .... seriously.... was v. depressed I had some very dark thoughts.
I like the easy homey feeling of being married, of having someone to depend on and trust and someone to share with. Never having to worry about getting a date or going somewhere alone or having to sit through being chatted up by slimey toads.
I do miss things about being married without kids though - that was a special time when we were totally focused on each other. I guess the romance is a little lost, since the kids take up so much time. But it's not forgotten and it's still there, just that we don't have so much time or energy for it anymore (and no smutty remarks there please )
For me marriage is the absolute bees knees. Best thing I ever did. And my wedding was the best party I've ever been to .

| | Re: Do you prefer being married or single. Why? | Quote: | | | | Of course, having a harem is the best of all ways of life for a gentleman.
My cousin Suleyman keeps a small household of 22 concubines. They are expensive to keep, but variety, as my cousin always says with a sly wink, really is the spice of life. He might have a Circassian girl on a Monday, an Epirot girl on a Tuesday, then a brace of Wallachian girls on a Wednesday. Thracians, being feisty, are good for a sweaty tussle, while the doe-eyed maidens of Serbia bring out the poet in him. At weekends, he sups with his boy and sleeps alone. A man must have his peace, after all.
I'd wager it took him a while to teach them all to make a decent cup of tea, though. It took long enough for me to train my one wife... | | | | | you are gonna be sent to sleep in the couch tonight lol |

However, at the end of the day, married or in a relationship is just better, in my experience.
Now, married or in a relationship, well, if you're not married your partner has no say if you are ill, and gets nothing if you die (in CH, other countries may differ). Is that fair?

if you're single, nobody is cheating on you with that trashy harlot across town, or the maintenance man at the office, or....
But if you're married you have to pick up after your other half who eats everything in the house and stopped working out YEARS ago, and with whom sex has become utterly BORING (did I remember to pay the telephone bill?).
Ya I'm in the single camp on this one. But I still dream of happily ever after.

I have a very different character and background from my husband's family. So sometimes being married means I have to give in to some of his family members and not having things my way like when I was single | | | | | I think more than a marital status issue it is a personality issue, you have to define your boundaries. i can tell you I will not let anyone force me to do something I do not want to, of course you can choose to do something to be nice and accomodating to your in laws but if it means going out of my way to make someone else comfortable, I would not even do it for my parents..selfish? maybe...

Twenty-one years of marriage so far and no sign of boredom or intention of quitting.

"When you are married, you can get your appetite outside, but you eat your gorgeous meal at home..." hihihi ^^
