Isn't onomatopoeia a word that sounds like the noise it makes eg bang, squelch etc?

How does "confused" have a noise?

I'm old, and easily confused
I thought it meant a word that sounded like it's meaning.
There you are then, 'squelch' is obviously a much better example.
