I've noticed over the years that the standard of English as used by the writers of the BBC news webpage has been falling, now to the extent that they occasionaly write gibberish.

This example made me laugh (I know what they mean, Assange using ghost writers etc but really, an unauthorised autobiography?)

Sounds like a perfectly sensible description to me, when you consider, as you say, that most "autobiographies" are indeed written by ghost-writers.

He clearly gave a lot of information to the ghost-writer to be used in an autobiography; he just doesn't want it published now.

Yes but, it's supposed to be an autobiography, meaning it's written by the person who...oh ar$e, you know what I mean ;-)

My BBC annoyances are

1. "Literally"
2. Why do they stand a reporter outside eg the TUC headquarters, or the Old Bailey....at 10pm? What does it add to the report? Have them in the freakin' studio!
