Dear film dubbing companies
Please, please stop. Subtitles were invented for a reason. Arnold Schwarzenegger speaking French sounds ridiculous and you can't really do the accent..

Dear film dubbing companies

please employ more people, the main reason I don't watch films here is because you only employ 3 people and each film sounds exactly the same as the previous one.

Not yours
chuk
and please make sure the people you employ actually speak and understand the languages they are dealing with...and no, *I belong to the wolf pack and you belong to the human pack* does not mean *Ich gehöre zum Wolfspack und du zum Menschenpack"* in German, and a "f*** book" is not a verfi*** Buch" in German but a "Sch***buch"
Thank you.

... and also please make sure they also actually get the jokes and try to replace them by something equivalent rather than translating literally.

Will Smith is so boring in German.

Re: Open Letters to People Unlikely to Respond

Dear McDonalds employees,

I visit your "restaurant" approximately once a year and I apologise profusely for only speaking French and English. I have not studied McTalk and do not visit your premises often enough to understand.

When I ask for something to eat and drink, it sounds perfectly comprehensible in my own non-Mac head but your puzzled face distresses me.

My apologies for ruining your day and incurring a McTut and McEye roll.

I will do my best to learn the correct order in which to order a McMenu, with McFries, McEat in or whatever but please be patient, after 30-odd years I'm still obviously new to all this.

If école-Migros are running any McTalk courses in the near future, I would appreciate any information being sent to me.

Yours,

A bilingual, non-McTalking annual customer.

Re: Open Letters to People Unlikely to Respond

Dear Cyclist
You have just cycled the wrong way up a one way street, and then run a red light. And now you are cycling on the footpath. As a fellow commuter, how am I supposed to predict your actions? Have you ever heard the terms sharing the road, or defensive driving?

Dear Retailer
It’s 25 degrees outside and I would like to buy a nice cool T shirt. However your shops have been full of winter clothing since the start of August, even though the weather has been great. Why is this?

Dear Big Company
Why have you rolled over my account for another year? I only paid for one year because I only wanted one year, no more. And now you want me to give three months notice to change it? You never gave me three months notice…

Dear Restaurant
I counted 8 of your staff standing around outside your front door, all having a smoke. [I actually saw this in Zürich 2 weeks ago.] The last time I dined at your restaurant, the food was incredibly salty. Has smoking ruined your sense of taste?

Dear Church
Your church bells have rung continuously for nearly 30 minutes today. The sound probably carries for at least a kilometre, and disrupts the life of a few thousand people. Yet only 20 people come along to your church. Do you think that this is ok?

Dear Bank
Why do you charge me to keep my money in your bank?

Dear United Nations
You seemed like a good idea at the time. What went wrong?

Grüss

Re: Open Letters to People Unlikely to Respond

Dear fellow gig-goer

You have some nerve to tap me on the shoulder and tell me off because apparently "I was not moving a lot and not having fun" during the dEUS concert last night. When I asked you what's your problem and to leave me alone , you continued your preaching.

Well, let me tell you that I was having fun until some random fun dictator decide to interrupt me and tell me that I was NOT having fun the way he felt appropriate. No, you are right, I was not enjoying myself. In fact I spent 40 francs, drove 40 minutes after work, stayed in front row while most people were at the bar, drove 40 mins back after the gig with the result of getting only 5 hours sleep ONLY to annoy you. No, it is not because I like the band. I mean, it's obvious, as I don't dance.

I also do not like so much when people are pushing and moshpiting but hey everyone is entitled to enjoy themselves as they please so I would never even remotely consider telling off someone because he is having fun in a different way than me.

I also found quite interesting tthat you chose me (i.e. a small girl) to tell off and not one of the four guys I was surrounded by, who were also "not having fun", according to your definition

Finally, next time you decide to talk in someone's ear, you might want to consider brushing your teeth first.

ps: you have good taste in music, i give you that!

Dear Mod,

Why do you close a thread when people are about to post a reply on that thread?

p.s. I already have a mother and I doubt that I need a substitute for that on the EF.

best regards,

Re: Open Letters to People Unlikely to Respond

Dear Silver BMW X5 Driver on the road down from Arosa.

Whist I realise that you probably receive a great many open letters on a regular basis as you are a BMW X5 driver, I still hope you read this.
I also appreciate that today's very snowy road was a rare opportunity for you to actually feel justified in having bought your ridiculous tonka toy.

However should you read it, I would be most grateful if you would explain to me the though process behind your behaviour on that particular stretch of road today, specifically, why you felt it necessary to tailgate & keep swerving out to see if you could overtake me for almost 20 km on a road that was covered with packed snow that was icing up on most corners, not to mention that the road has so many bends that you could not have overtaken anyway.

I'm just interested as to whether it was my particular car/driving that you felt was being too pussy, or if it was one of the other of the 20 or so vehicles in front to me that were diligently keeping safe distance & and speed (in corners) to avoid sliding off the road.

Just wondering like, because when you did finally get your break and managed to aggressively hop a whole one car ahead of me, I couldn't help but notice the the 2 children in the rear of your car.
Well done! I bet they're dead proud of Dad, eh? Getting them to Chur a whole 40 seconds ahead of everyone else without killing them or anyone else.

Re: Open Letters to People Unlikely to Respond

Dear manufacturer of the Software we use to drive our machines.
Please next time you decide to abruptly change the dongles you use to copy-proctect your Software, inform me that the dongle you sent in the package with the CD is usable on all Sindows systems and not suddenly a "WIn7" only device. When after trying for hours to get it to run on NT Server 2008 I ring your hell-desk only to be informed "Oh is there a problem? Just run it on a Win7 box then!"
I inform you that you recommend a NT system and your answer is:
"Yes we do!"
Aaand if you manage to remember your operating systems then please, please program you dongles to recognize your own Software.

Re: Open Letters to People Unlikely to Respond

Dear driver behind me tonight

I wonder if you realise that practically sticking your vehicle up my rear means that I'm blinded by your headlights in my rear view mirror, so I have to tip it up, meaning I don't really see what you are doing any more. And while I know that you, like ALL housewife's tank drivers (Chelsea tractor equivalent in Switzerland), have superior reaction times and are generally TEH AWESOMEST drivers on the road, I'm sure that the slippery road and the concept of momentum did not get that particular memo. And if I'm going to get killed by a car, I want it to be something classy. Preferably while speeding on a road on the Côte d'Azur, being distracted by a beautiful view. So back the F*** off.
