I'm home alone and am afraid to go in there to try to get him out.

My husband is at work, far from home, and cannot really come here -- and won't be home until around 8:00 tonight.

What should I do? I only know one neighbor in my building and he isn't home, and the building seems empty. Is this something that maybe I should call the Hauswart about? Or the fire department? (I know that, in the US, the fire dept. is often called for trapped animals, etc.).

I feel like an ass... being afraid of a pigeon!

(But this is just one more reason I wish Swiss builders put screens in the windows!)

Open windows and doors.

Go outside, enjoy the sun and have a cup of tea.

The problem is that I'm 39 weeks pregnant and not feeling so great today -- don't feel like going up and down all the stairs to leave my apartment (We live on the 3rd floor).

Lol... I do have a cat, too.
But she already once dragged a pigeon into our old flat. It bled all over our apartment.

I'm telling you... these pigeons are out to get me!!!!!!!

Go into another bedroom and close the door Enjoy a lay down and wait for the flying rodent to leave.

P.S-This also works for unwanted guests who refuse to take the hint and go home

This happened in my apartment once but it was a smaller bird, a finch I think. Anyway, it flew into our kitchen window and sat on the top of the cupboards for ages. I tried to get it out but I was also pregnant and couldn't get on a stool to try to get it out.

I just left the windows open and closed all the doors and eventually (not more than about 15mins later) it found its way out.

Good luck, it will be fine, it just needs to work it all out for itself I reckon!

Had a similar incident with a snake once.

Best option is to call Pet Rescue not the fire department.
Another option is to simply get out of your house and ask a random person for some help. Swiss people are in general a helpfull lot. Plus your pregnant...everyone WILL help.

Most important thing is to not get upset and stressed out about this.

Yikes! I would have had a heart attack if a snake had made its way into my house! I have a horrible phobia of them.

UPDATE:

"The pigeon situation" is now under control, thanks to a very kind neighbor of mine.
