Re: British 1970s Children's Films

A tear for Robinson Crusoe. Haven't heard that theme for err 37 years then... Can't remember a thing about the programme though.

I nearly choked when I read that How ironic..

There was a show back in the day called How we used to live. I think it was also shown in schools. It covered periods in history. I mainly saw the period covering WW2 at school.

Re: British 1970s Children's Films

After much brain racking for a series I recall, but couldn't remember anything other than the vague plot:

- a young lad and his girlfriend (a young Jan Francis), searching for his suspiciously disappeared father (Glynn Houston), whilst being pursued by a black leather clad motorcyclist (played by Hilary Minster - later General von Klinkelhof in 'Allo 'Allo) - who came to a sticky end falling in a quarry (or similar).

Finally, with the help of the interweb came by the title .... The Long Chase - this was fairly dramatic nail-biting stuff for young kids in the 70's. The title music seems to exist on YT, but not much else (western series of same name is more prevalent).

Incidentally, Hiliary Minster also appeared a few years earlier, in another notable children's series: Timeslip, which I also recall, but didn't watch too much.

Just remembered - Sexton Blake was also of the same era.
