| | The new BMW 3 series 2012 (F30)
Finally waiting is over (at least for some real photos).
I've been searching the whole internet in the last 6-12 months, but only camouflage pics available and of course some artistic "photoshop" suggestion.
Today the new 3 series generation was revealed.
What do you think? |

It wont be long until we get a thread of someone trying to get out of their lease where they only paid 1000 deposit & don't understand why nobody will take it over

Photos are nice, but I always have to see it in the flesh. The rear looks a bit too busy, but again that could just be the photo.

I don't know if real photos of F32 were released yet... It seem that the coupe will be revealed later on...2013 maybe . However the M3 limousine will be presented next year.
The interior is great. Looks more and more like in F10. The M Steering wheel looks amazing:

It's very elegant new outlook of interior with all these exclusive features available at extra cost. The demo car seems pampered with all goodies and it looks drop-dead gorgeous inside. However, I prefer old location of screen with navigation system. In new version it seems to make impression like GPS option wasn't included and cheap tom-tom was installed instead call me old fashioned but I still like my old face-lifted 2007 3-series... And the rear view mirrors shapewise are not so aerodynamically rounded as before but rather they were inherited from 5-series or 7-series.

...like my Titan 'n Cinnamon, all that bright stuff I find too distracting and busy.
Does look kinda angry, but the emotions are little mixed. Connecting the grill to the headlight cluster I guess is to make the front less bulbous than the last model, but may taking some getting used to.

I'm not sold,,,,,,
There's just something about it I'm not keen on.
My old man's just got a new 5 series tourer, and I'm afraid its the same story with that.
Needless to say, its build quality is fantastic.
But it just doesn't inspire me I'm afraid.
Maybe they are going to grow on me (a bit like mould), but we'll have to wait and see, but at the moment, the jury is out.
(I'm sure Mr B, Mr M and Mr W will be devastated that I don't love their new new cars. I await an imminent phone call to explain myself further)
Now if the latest mazda leaks are proven to be correct,,,,they are a different story.
Google Mazda MX5 ND.
That is astonishing design and it makes me WANT one.
I know that its not going to be as good as the Beemer, but I want it anyway.
(Having said that, if it looks like that when it launches, I'll eat my hat. One can hope,,,)

He's been gone for two years, but still his influence remains. Having said that, intial revulsion is often followed by begrudging acceptance. I know that I instantly disliked the 1-series when it first came out, but it grew on me to such an extent that I now roll in one of these | | | | | Bangle butt, I call that a lacquered coffin shoved in the back.
My take on Bangle is he tried to pull in all kinds of associations that some profile marketing research said would attract the right BMW customer with all his phoney identities and projections, primarily US and fat German businessman/Familienvater, so he wasn't designing a car at all, just some marketing identity.
Thing is, from the driver's seat they are all great, but when you park it and step out and look at it, it's like "What a great screw that was, but it's a damn good thing the lights were off."
I was invited to M Division in Garching for a "closed door" preview of the M3 in 2007, and while there I got the distinct impression that everything to do with driving was designed by real engineering and driving enthusiasts, but all the exterior and interior was designed by marketing. As much as I enjoyed driving the E92, I just couldn't bring myself to buy one. While I'm a bit curious whether the upcoming M3 is gonna give me wood, I kinda doubt it. My current E46 M3 still does and it is hard to imagine parting with it.
Damn Bangle, though some say he's not alone responsible. From the BMW point of view, they are breaking all their sales records, so they must be getting it right. Ya never know though, gotta sit in the new one first and see what happens.

Being bigger can give wider space for the legs. Because some people does not use the car for 5 kms ride but 1000 or 2000 kms.
A bmw series 3 is much smaller than a skoda superb. An amazing car.
In a struggling economy if they do not grow bmw series i would prefer skoda superb for sure.

BMW Press Club:
"The sixth generation of the 3 Series has grown moderately in size compared to its predecessor, with its wide track (front + 37 mm/1.46 in., rear + 47 mm/1.85 in.) particularly prominent, and the car’s length (+ 93 mm/3.66 in.) and wheelbase (+ 50 mm/1.96 in.) also accentuates its sporting allure. Inside the new BMW 3 Series Sedan, the rear passengers will appreciate the noticeable increase in space made possible by the larger dimensions."
