I can imagine having a lot of fin with it..I gotta go there.

Todays Special Word apart from overscheduled would be presumptuous..I am trying to find a clear translation, either FR or CZ, and there are too many, depending on context.

Re: Word of Today

muchmellow

As in "Ok, guys, what uncountable nouns do we know..much what..."
"Much, much, much love?"
"Yes, what else..much.."
"Much work"
"Much time"
"Muchmellow..hmmmm, Madame, I loooove muchmellow"

I know, it should be in Cute things kids say, made me giggle.

Apart from in my world totally legit muchmellow, I will also add collaborative learning.

More of a reminder than an old word:

"Noobs"
"n00b"
"Newbie"

A person who has just joined the forum and will inevitably make mistakes.

..... Go easy on 'em. Tease but teach.

Still entertaining at times..

Anyways, to assume vet and legends don't make mistake, or, ghaasp, mods...we all do. I was always a fan of helping people learn, as oppose to punitive ways.

Which reminds me another oldie word, I have never used, actually, ferule.

Re: Word of Today

Not heard of it like that. Just as in (for example) an Irish lilt, with the soft singy songy murmurfulness.

Incidentally, Ferrule - reasonably common of you play snooker/pool.

Re: Word of Today

La ferrule, the steel ruler ... still brings water to my eyes. In the dark days of the 50s in rural Switzerland, regularly used at primary schools for punishing kids. When we had dictation, we would get one hit with the side of the ferrule on our upturned hand and fingers. I was always a good speller, and some kids would make 20+ mistakes and hands and nails would be bleeding for days

My happy word of the day :rosebaywillowherb

Re: Word of Today

Thanks for sharing, Odile...Those who did it are probably on some secret burn-in-hell teacher list for those who hurt kids instead of loving them. You know, makes me feel good about being a teacher, and I think a pretty decent one, to avoid these measures and kinda fix the reputation these few nasty ones have created. Bastards.

Another nasty one would be on that list, but that was in the eighties. The horrid commie one who broke my nose with a rule (albeit a plastic one) when I was 6, because I was asking too many questions and my parents were not proletariat, she happened to be too irritated. See...it wasn't only Switzerland.

I don't hold grudges, though..Just try be a good teacher. And I do have a ruler, BPA free, hahahah, that bends nicely, but just for a humorous effect.

So...I would say, another Word of Today, would be questions.
And the art of asking the right ones at the right time.
