I am the 77,670,376,241st person ever to be born on this planet and the population has doubled since I was born. Look here for yours
(I always thought that more people were alive today than had ever died - is that an urban myth?)

I don't mind being merged with you at all, but I think my title is better.

I confess I was a bit disappointed when I read the thread. From the title I thought it was a quiz to find out if I fit more closely to Caligula, Genghis Khan or, who knows, maybe even Charles Magnus. :P
I wasn't born long after you I believe...

Wow!
According to that site, every hour there are 9 births, 7 deaths and 4 immigrants added to Switzerland. Nearly half the new people in Switzerland are immigrants rather than natural born Swiss citizens.
I know plenty of people in the US who would find that to be "alarming" on some level. Me, I simply find it interesting. I happen to like a mix, but then my perspective is one of someone who moves around, not someone who is faced with strangers entering my domain. |

Your older than me so that's all I care about! :P
Seriously folks:
What I find interesting about that site is the stats per country. I don't really understand the implications. But it's intriguing.

We could look for one...
Really though I find this all to be quite depressing. I sometimes wish I had been born, lived, and died before the industrial revolution and overcrowding began. I certainly do wish that human population wasn't growing exponentially like it is. The saddest thing is, most people seem to be oblivious to it, and or think it's a good thing (e.g. couples that have more than 2 children).

So far my family has come out "ahead" (or behind, depending on view point) in total for this. I'm one of 5 born to my parents. Hubby and I have no children, my brother and his wife also none, a sis with one, my other sis two and my baby brother has two.
So... let's see. We could have had 10, we only have five, so we "make up" for our parents having five. Whew! |
