Moving to Luxembourg - driving license query

Hi everyone!

I just exchanged my italian driving licence into a swiss one but I will have to move to Luxembourg soon. I read in other topics that I will be able to drive around for one year with the swiss one, does anyone know what I should do afterwards? I'm italian and my original driving licence was issued there, should I claim it back from the italian authorities or should ask for a new one in Luxembourg?

Tried to look for similar experiences in the forum with no success, I apologize in advance in case the information is already here and I thank everyone that will help with the matter!

Cheers

Gianmaria

Re: Moving to Luxembourg - driving license query

That's unfortunate, as you could have driven for as long as you like on an EU licence. Can you get the Italian licence back? If so, all you should do is register it in Luxembourg (address: see above). It's not mandatory, but if your licence is lost or stolen, you can then have it replaced with a Luxembourg licence without having to go to Italy first.
