ebay registration driving me crazy

i am trying to register on ebay, but as soon as I choose 'Switzerland', the whole form turns to German and I'm suddenly registering on ebay.ch, which I don't want. I don't understand German, and looking around the form there's nowhere which says 'sprache' so I can change it back to English.

Anyone knows how to get past this?

Re: ebay registration driving me crazy

why not register for ebay.co.uk and then change location after you've registered.

Just register under your home country? That (used to at least) works. Ebay has been changing their rules so much I haven't kept up.

mmmm...but I want to sell stuff. Would I be allowed to do that? And then should I just invent an address?

I sell stuff and I'm registered in the U.S., no problem. I just make sure to list the location as here.

yes, but I don't have an address to include in the registration form, unless I invent one

Re: ebay registration driving me crazy

I've been trying to find the answer for the last 15 minutes but, because I'm already registered with ebay, I can't re-register, and can't remember how I originally did it.
I seem to recall that I somehow managed to register by looking at what the questions were, by not putting Switzerland in the drop-down box, and then just guessing the German equivalent.
I registered with Ebay UK and this is linked to my Swiss address and my Swiss credit card.
It's no good using a fictitious address, because your credit card has to be linked to your principal address.
Don't give up. There is a way round the problem with just a bit of fortitude and determination.
Just wish I could remember how I did it all those years ago.
I hope for your sake someone else has a better idea.

Re: ebay registration driving me crazy

Obviously once you've managed to register, then you can get access to everything in English, and I can use Ebay US with the same inititial registration.
Growing old and befuddled is a problem.
Wish I could help more.

Re: ebay registration driving me crazy

As already said, you can register on any eBay site. You can also log in to a different national site with the same login, AFAICT.

Then you can go to My eBay - Account - Addresses and set your registered addresses. It really helps if these addresses match your confirmed Paypal addresses. When you add a card to PayPal, it takes a small amount off your card and credits it to your PP account, and validates the address at which the card is registered.

if you sell, you will definitely need a validated address - after all, would you want to buy from someone who says they are in Basel but is actually in Nigeria?

I have the same problem with German at ebay.ch.
By now, I am solving it with google translate, but it's really annoying.
Enen though I've managed to register & even publish few bids, but all info, including the confirmation e-mails I receive in German. And I have not found how to change the settings to English or at least French: )

any ideas how to?

By the way, if you sell via e-bay, could you please advise me how to estimate possible shipping cost to other countries, so that I can put the fee ib the form?

thank you: )

regards,
N,
