Are you a moral relativist?

Here's a question from Scientific American.

The green blocks problem
There are five blocks in a stack. In this stack, the second block from the top is green, and the fourth is not green. Is a green block definitely on top of a non-green block?

A) Yes
B) No
C) Cannot be determined

The answer is below. I blatantly copy and pasted it.

Re: Are you a moral relativist?

I don't see the argument linking the process of solving the quizz to the moral relativist.
The process of solving the quizz is a logical/scientific approach. How can it be translated to moral relativism? I have seen many very good scientists that have a non-relativist moral view of the world. I'm puzzled.

Re: Are you a moral relativist?

Very interesting! But I don't agree with the premise. Simply because one 'thinks through the problem' (i.e. considering all possible answers) doesn't make one a moral relativist any more so than seeing the answer to the problem more directly makes one a moral absolutist.

'Thinking through the problem' might be a way of simply verifying one's gut instinct- so now is one a moral absolutist (one had a gut instinct) or a relativist (one reasoned through the possibilities). I consider myself more of a moral absolutist (there are definite rights and wrongs), but I am willing to discuss and rationalize my beliefs and values, because I believe that reinforces them, or helps me to find better ones.
