What's the cheapest date you've been on? Yesterday, my friend was taken to McDonald's by a girl who bought a 9 nugget meal to share between the two of them.
No problem with that unless they can't decide who has the last nugget?

Re: Cheap dates

Plenty of cheap dates at our local French Morroccan supermarkets!

First date my OH took me on was to the Agra off Tottenham Court Road - chicken tikka, rice a nan and a beer. My first curry too.

I bet they loved it!
Indeed, especially the time we went to France for lunch at a Michelin *** restaurant wearing racing leathers (however, that was one of the most expensive dates, motorcycle or not).

Maybe she was just cheap? :P
Or maybe she just wanted something quick so they could move on to the.....ummm...... "intimate" part of the date.

If it is an evening with fast food and a happy end, then who cares?

Wait, there were 9 nuggets...so who got the extra one? That has to be the decider on whether it was love or not.

Or maybe she feeds him Macca D's because she's after the life insurance. You never know.

That is definitely the sweetest date I've heard of in a very long time.
I'd say sharing chicken nuggets on park bench without a cent but with heart, is a far more interesting date than being wined n' dined and appropriately impressed, but oh so superficially.

Used to have to travel, and I'd spend late nights jet-lagged, working in my room in these amazing hotels all over the world. I can distinctly remember thinking: I'd give it all up in heart beat for a no-star hotel with true companionship.

Good for the girlie, she might have offered what she had.
What has more value ? to offer what you can afford easily or something that costs you personally ?
Werd.. I agree. It's not about the price tag at all.

Though I think if I was in this situ, I would probably share something more exciting..apples, something more imaginative than McDo , there are nicer things to share than a few greasy nuggets even if one is poor. Chocolate, hello?

cheap? I think it's really creative and romantic! No? I'd love if someone prepared food for me and invited me for a picnic. Lovely idea i think.

Does this line in logic hold also for engagement rings ?

Well, hahaha....Friends have all sorts of unusual wedding bands, from tatoo ones (too bad they broke up), wooden ones, all sorts of metal ones, at the end of the day it does not really matter. It's the thrill and happiness on a date that counts, not really the food, n'est pas.

Engagement rings aren't as big here, anyways, as they are say in the US.

Re: Cheap dates

I LOVE what many people would consider "cheap dates", but when I was asked what I wanted to do and I proposed the below, it turned out quite fine every time, so maybe they're cheap but good? My top three:

1. Going grocery shopping together to a fresh market with a set, limited (low) budget, letting the other pick the ingredients, and cook for him by improvising a meal with whatever he chose.

2. Picnic in the park, laying in the grass reading a book out loud, and feeding the ducks with the leftover crumbs.

3. And the best of the best was: ordering cheap Chinese takeout (3 Euros per person in Germany), lay a blanket on the living room floor, and eat while watching the movie Casablanca on TV.

P.S. You can tell I love to eat and I love to sit on the ground

Re: Cheap dates

Federica those are delightful !!

1. A hike through nature to a secluded log cabin with those red apples
2. Hire a pédalo and enjoy a crépe au sucre far from the shore

sweet, sexy and simple

Phil.. this is very frustrating, so who got the last nugget and what, finally, was your buddy's opinion

I still think she had a really sweet idea

By the fourth date, food shouldn't play such an important role anymore.
Maccas isn't where you take any date.
