The best real-life examples of over-exaggerated alpha-female behavior I can think of would be the the High School Cheerleader Captain archetype or the Prom Queen.

Oh, you can be Alpha, LiB, if you can do all the stuff I'm currently doing for myself better than me. ALL of it. But I don't think I'd talk about being an alpha female on a BUS. If I was driving my Aston Martin convertible maybe. Except you wouldn't hear me over the awesome engine sound!

The best combination, whether it be work or life, is an alpha male and beta female.
It has nothing to do with women's liberation, it just works smoothly for both.

Alpha females probably suffer a lot because they're natural leaders and their femininity works against them and it's other women that give them a hard time, far more than men. Men will tend to accept if a woman is really intelligent and a good leader.

If you think this is utter nonsense, ask yourself a question:
Do you want your 12 hour long haul flight pilot to be a man or a woman ?
Do you want your child's surgeon to be a man or a woman ?

It's horrible and so damn unfair to even think of it, but.... ?
It will be a while before the world changes.

So I believe that alpha females probably are obliged to proclaim and defend their positions and/or status continiously.
