Is an Alpha female someone who is more yang than yin?
I believe that too much of the yang quality is harmful for a woman and makes her less attractive.

Took me a while to understand it.

Is a woman with too much yang unattractive? Certainly, concerning the norm she might be...but what is the norm? Is it a social structure, culture, believe? Not sure however, I'm certain that even the most yangy woman, unless she plays for the other team will find her (male) matching partner, who accepts her and loves her as she is IMO.

In order to properly open any jar, it's better to keep it above the belt, on a high surface like a table. Then exerce grip with your forearm muscle around the jar cap, take a deep breath, and turn the cap in the proper direction. If you find out it was the wrong direction, don't despair. Just begin the process again, there should be enough strength left in your arms to avoid recourse to the alpha of the household to open the jar.
For further improvement in forearm muscle use, I suggest strength-building with devices such as this one: http://www.heavygrips.com/

Wow that's pretty pathetic to HAVE TO state that she thinks she's an Alpha Female! She sounds quite immature!

I say some things to family and friends that would sound totally wierd to any eavesdropper. I try to take that into account when judging others by words that were not intended for me to hear.

So, we bitch about bitches who's main goal is to bitch about others. Exciting.
I think alpha people (purposely saying peeps, not women or men) don't label themselves, nor compare to others. Who cares what tv shows they watch, how they dress, what rhetorics they use, or how old they are.. Walking around saying one is "alpha" is like walking around saying one is "attractive". It's only the others that can assess, me thinks, though real leaders usually know to the details what they want and probably can assess themselves and their potential spot on. They might not be up for sharing that info, though.
I didn't really have a chance to comment, though thought this thread interesting, packed with stereotypes..I am swamped with papers to grade, I think that automatically disqualifies me from any alpha box to put myself in should I ever want that....
By the way, the stereotype of teens having a bird brain I read here, not those 100 I deal with every single day. Smart cookies. Each generation seems more alpha-ish than the preceding one. They are the ones that have to deal with new pressures.

I believe that too much of the yang quality is harmful for a woman and makes her less attractive. | | | | | I don't know, but I don't buy the yin and yang principle. Any attempt to put human beings in tidy little drawers freaks me out.
What's attractive anyway? According to some studies, a woman finds men more or less attractive according to their menstrual cycles. It might depend on what movie played last night and how many Cosmopolitans she burnt as a teenager.
Maybe I'm a hopeless romantic, but I would have thought human beings had evolved enough to go beyond the typical "is he strong, broad shouldered, good gene carrier" choice of attractiveness.
I'm very much thankful I don't see in black and white. To me an extremely feminine woman can be as attractive as an extremely masculine one. Ok, since I am actual not that kind of player, an extremely feminine man can be as attractive as an extremely masculine one would be more exact.
And a more masculine woman doesn't mean she's going to be an alpha.
To be honest, I have the feeling I'm just wasting my latin. I feel sometimes really sad and disappointed that human kind still lingers on the necessity to print a label on you, and shift you out to the correct place in the shelf. Maybe Orwell was right after all.

(besides, amorphous nerds are sexier than any Val Kilmer or Johnny Depp any time) *cough* *cough* *lies* *cough* *cough* |
