Technical question re water pumps

Can anyone advise me whether a hot water tap alone would normally activate a domestic water pump? I have mixer taps, and it appears that the pump is only activated when the tap is at the extreme cold setting, with nothing but a trickle coming out on the extremet hot side (which is insufficient to activate the pump).

I am wondering because, not only is this irritating, but this would imply that if there were separate taps, the hot water would not activate the pump. Surely this cannot be right? And, if so, can anyone please recommend a solution?

Re: Technical question re water pumps

It will depend on where the pressure sensor is mounted /sensors are mounted.

If you had 2 sensors, and the hot water pressure sensor failed, you would have these symptoms.

You might also have two pumps, and the hot one is failing.

Anyway you aren't going to be able to repair it yourself, so you need to call a plumber or "Sanitaire"

Are you sure you even have a pump? The water pressure in Switzerland normally means pumps are not required...

Yes, this is in my apartment in Malta - we never needed a pump in Switzerland.

I am properly late with this! but your problem is with the hot water tank .In a hot water all kind of crap is settling in your tank and is blocking the outlet Most likely you need a new hot water tank
