I think it's often a cry for more freedom, fewer restrictions.

Re: Mid Life Crisis

Something very personal...My dad is in his mid 60s now and i think im the only one who knows that...he´s getting addicted to porn. He is a pastor/lawyer. He was still learning how to use his laptop before i left so sometimes he needed my help on some things and thats how i found out. Im hoping its just a phase and he outgrows it before it starts causing any trouble.

Re: Mid Life Crisis

Strangely I would have thought that this thread would find it's place in "Family & Health" as it affects both.

Perhaps a mid-life crisis is when you realize you're no longer young enough to accomplish all that you dreamed of.. and yet you're not yet old enough to give up those hopes ?

It's a grief process, during which you become you.
Not someone's child, or someone's spouse, or yet someone's employee and all the other roles we play.... but just you

Personally, I'd say that it's when you finally realize that none of it matters.

Re: Mid Life Crisis

I'm only just creeping into that age bracet so not too many mid-life crises yet. Although we do get the odd sky diving, motor cycle buying & cheer leader camp attending 40 yr olds posting on FB.

I did buy a pair of red cowboy boots and am now seriously considering dumping my beloved Mini & buying a pick up truck. No, really, only 1/2 joking.

I got married when I was 40 (8 years older than husband)... Peg and i have the right idea. I quit my job to move to Switzerland at 52, and I might finish my PhD sometime around 58. Holy crap those are big freakin numbers. I am finding myself, no crisis here.

I bought not one but 3 pairs of high heeled boots last year (on the same afternoon). 1 of which I've only wore once! I reckon I was having a mid-life moment.

This, my friends, is how to deal with the lousy life dealt to you at midlife:
Don't buy a Porsche, make one!
