I bought not one but 3 pairs of high heeled boots last year (on the same afternoon). 1 of which I've only wore once! I reckon I was having a mid-life moment.
Send them to me!!!!

Re: Mid Life Crisis

Perhaps midlife crisis is about a desire for change and fright related to any possible change ? A contradiction within.
But what if major change wasn't necessary at all ?
What if simply changing our perception was enough to reach peace of heart ?

The stuff you ask yourself when you talk long walks

I think mid-life crisis (MLC) come from comparing what you wanted/planned/expect your life to be vs what your life actually is. When you are happy with the difference then there is no need for a MLC. When you are not happy with the outcome then that leads to MLC.

Not that that is the only thing. Sometimes being confronted with more & more death/illness, divorces, kids leaving home, not only in our lives but in that of our friends & family it leads us to think "I could/should/would/want to do/be/see/experience more".

I don't think MLC's are always bad. Sometimes they lead to great things. The key, I think, is not to panic!

Re: Mid Life Crisis

If you will, permit me to paraphrase the famous words (alledged) of a former British Prime Minister, Jim Callaghan - "Crisis? What crisis?". Legend.

Difference is these three words ain't bringing me down anytime soon!!!

Re: Mid Life Crisis

I used to not understand why people hide their age but its happening now to me. I absolutely refuse to say im 30. Im still 29 and 12 months thank you very much! Ok im being made fun of by my family but i dont care. Give it a couple more years and it will be their turn.

Whats with people passing this decade? Anybody who was in my place before cares to explain?

I had a mini taste of it when reaching the second half of my 20s. Dreading 30. If I had to guess, I'd imagine it's the realization that your youth is gone for good. You're not getting old and wrinkly or anything, but you're a full-fledged adult. You think there are true "adults" while you're younger, don't think you're one yet, and then one day people just start calling you "Sir."
