I realize though, that for people on the ground it's probably a non-issue and they just want to get on with their daily lives, and I can dig that. If you saw my explanation in the thanksgiving thread and concluded there was truly no point behind what was written besides to offend, then that's truly too bad. | Quote: | | | | and i guess there is a reason why you've only heard tongue lashing and yelling from latinas- given your comments it seems to make sense | | | | | I imagined you snapping your fingers just now.

if you knew anything about latinas you may know it's the caribbean latina's that snap their fingers, not exactly my people.
i said nothing about your other comment other than i couldn't be bother to respond to it- we could happily sit with a beer and a smile and go on about that topic for hours, believe me, but the comment from facebook framed it in stupidity- no escaping the offensiveness of that |

| | Re: Voice | Quote: | | | | | More regarding volume than tone, my wife is always accusing me of shouting when in my opinion I'm not (she's typically Swiss - anything more than a whisper is shouting). | | | | | Maybe typically Swiss German, but NOT Swiss Italian!
My (Swiss) wife is one of those whose normal tone is borderline shouting, as is that of a friend who grew up in Chile, especially when on the phone!

If it's a car mechanic, who cares if he sings in falsetto or has a Barry White voice?

your voice is an integral part of your personality and of how you come across, and therefore influences your social life and career prospects (of course, depending on what you do).
I have been blessed with a deep bass and often get told on the phone that I sound 'nice'.. Now I'm not a bullshit artist, but my ex boss and colleagues agreed that I had a much easier time convincing people than they did with the very same words...

(I missed your answer till now)
I'd like to think that voice does have an impact.
Voice changes with emotion though.
I think if people are conscious of their voice, they can perhaps control the pitch. I really cringe around shrill voices.
A low clear voice is nice on the phone, tis true.
A voice that smiles and welcomes is also.
