Deleting Apple Applications

Hi all,

Hope this is the correct forum for this question, but couldn't find a more appropriate one.

After a recent update to the software for my iPod and iPad2, I noticed that there were some new apps and a new layout of the "Music" folder for the iPad2.

I don't actually want some of the new apps like "Newstand" and "Reminders", but cannot delete them. I know how to remove the apps I've downloaded, by either keeping my finger pressed on them till the delete icon appears, or simly going to iTunes and deleting it from there. What I can't work out is how to delete an icon Apple has decided I need.

Anyone any idea if they can indeed be removed?

Many thanks and Happy Thanksgiving for those who celebrated it yesterday.

Alex.
