Re: EARTHLINGS (Docu)- Make the connection! :-(

I have a bigger issue with overfishing and the reduction of wild habitat.

This is the third time I have had this film pushed in my face, it is disgusting, but almost all these practices are illegal here, and all will be illegal in about 3 years time.

Most of that film was shot outside of Europe. So what points are you trying to make?
Very well said, the film will show the absolute worse bits but some people will watch it and think that 'farming' is like that everywhere.

I guess showing a video of cattle grazing happily in a field or chickens roaming around freely is not going to have the same effect.

Exactly.

I wonder whether GoVeg has actually been to a farm.

I couldnt become a veggie. I have nothing against people that are, but just couldn’t.

The thought of never eating lamb or beef doesn’t bear thinking about.

Plus, with the decreased protein, lack of food choices, decreased creatinine and vitamins and minerals, I don’t like the idea of taking supplements, essentially pills to compensate what my body can get from natural consumption of foods.
I happen to like veal, steak and used to hunt. So there.

I have yet to meet a vegan who is entirely sane, and many of the vege's I know seem to have a loose screw or too. I blame the lack of correct food that we, as an omnivore species, need

Not entirely true. Most of leather sold in the west is sourced from India and China. Cows are treated extremely horribly in India by leather production industry, yeah holy shit! China we all know is a champion of animal rights We in the west just try to outsource our guilt.

Mad cow slaughters happened in Europe didn't they? So in three years animals are getting 5 star hotel treatment? They are going to get nursery rhymes sung to them and when they are fast asleep a lethal injection will be given to them away from the gaze of other lined up animals? Get real! If it so good then why don't you check in too?

I have grudging respect for non veg people who say that they don't give a **** about animal welfare compared to people who spin a yarn about how animals are well looked after. There is nothing humane about animal slaughter and it never will be. There is varying degrees of cruelty but all of it is cruel.

So yeah what was your point?

Many times and witnessed slaughter first hand. Butcher in my extended family too.

What no veal or dolphin meat? There is hope then
I love veal, but have never tried dolphin.

Does it taste like whale? I like whale!

Strange, whale is pretty dry and needs oil added.

Raw whale, olive oil and aquavit, and Bob's your uncle!

You might not agree, but it is a very well known fact that most of these things are obtained from meat and by not consuming meat you have to find and supplement them in other ways, and altho can be found in non meat foods, or supplements, taking pills to make up for what can be obtained from meat just sounds and feels more artificial and unnatural
Fact it is not If you eat unbalanced veg diet then yes it is possible. You can get everything from plant based diet. Protein, Iron, Calcium etc are absolutely not a problem. I am serious. You can be unhealthy as a non veg or as a veg guy if you don't watch what you eat.

B12 is the only thing that can be a problem but solvable specially if you are vegetarian instead of vegan. I get my blood checked regularly and funnily my B12 levels are up by 60 points and I have been vegetarian for 10+ years.

I understand you want to eat meat and not give it up because you love it. So that I have no solution for Are you into weight training? Plenty of vegan/vegetarian fitness freaks out there. Even sportsmen and some MMA fighters are Vegan/vegetarian

Ok no point going round in circles. I have said what I had to say.

As a brainless/headless/heartless meat lover, I eat meat not only because I love it but a vegetarian diet would not provide me with enough iron. Most vegetarians suffer from iron deficiency and don't even know that.

How does one suffer from iron deficiency and not know it? Don't people get their blood checked at least once a year? A well balanced vegetarian diet will not lead to iron deficiency FFS!

My ferretin level- 239 (Normal range 23-290)
My eisen level- 15 (Normal range 9-28)

Yes you will suffer from iron deficiency and many more deficiencies if you eat lettuce all day long. Eat healthy and bob is your iron.

Edit- My iron level was similar when I was non veg too. So not much change.

Thanks. I am not interested in becoming a vegetarian.

Seriously Mud I am not trolling. Did you forget someone wrote on the thread that vegetarians have few screws missing? Must be the reason why I am acting nutty.

Anyway bit of banter keeps us all young
